I am without Medical Insurance since my divorce process in Jan 2006 and REALLY need some bad. I have a torn disk since I was in a wreck 3 yrs ago and I aggrevated it over the weekend. It is very hard for me to move around and take care of my 15 month old.

I also have some anxiety issues and A.D.D that I want to resolve as well.

Do anyone know any good affordable health insurance.

What can I do next?

I have a friend that sells AFLAC and she says it's very affordable and from what she told me it sounds good. If you're interested email me you number or email address and I'll pass it on to her (her name is Denise).

I had to get my own insurance for a year and I went to ehealthinsurance.com online. After you put in your info....it will give you all kinds of options with different deductables and premiums. I went with a Blue Sheild Blue Cross option...but there are many more. It doesn't hurt to look and get quotes...it's free. Good Luck!!

If you cannot get medicaid, you might qualify for insurance under JPS health Network if you live in Tarrant county. You can go to http://www.jpshealthnet.org for more information on there heathcare. You qualify based on income. You only pay a co pay for Dr visits and prescriptions. There is no cost to you for the plan. Its through John Hopkins Hospital, and they have offices all over the city. Its not as great as some private plans, but much better than nothing.

I've heard great things about Mega Life...which I see you received a response from a representative. You should definitely follow-up with her. I stopped working when I had a high risk pregnancy and then didn't go back to work when she was born. However, my husband became self-employed shortly after that and we explored LOTS of plans and the best was with Mega Life. Before we signed on, my husband went back with a firm that had other coverage. Net, net, Mega Life seemed to have the BEST value for the money. Hope this helps.

Is there any chance you would qualify for Medicaid. I don't know if you are working or not. Do your boys have insurance? I have heard United is good but have never been insured by them. Good luck, I know the disk stuff is painful. I am having that problem as well.

I currently have Mega Life, I just want to warn you that I recently found out that my policy has no maximum OOP which very important if you were to ever have something catastrophic or chronic happen to you. This is what limit your patient responsibility. I was not told this upfront so I would ask that question. I also was disappointed to find out the first time I took my son to his check up that after paying the $20 copay that the insurance company on covers up to $100 so I was stuck paying another $50 bucks as well. If you are interested in this plan I would ask these questions up front.
