Pastina (eventually I added peas and my daughter LOVED it) ...cut up pieces of soft sweet potato or squash. soups! I don't know how picky she is. Are there any foods she DOES like? It would help if I knew that...or things she particularly hates? I hope you know the old saying.. children will eat when they're hungry so don't worry about her starving. Keep trying new things, and always go back to old things she doesn't like.. they come around on stuff a lot. GL..and write me if you want to discuss more!

My daughter Julia is also 17 months old and her favorite foods are pasta with turkey meat sauce, meatballs, turkey and cheese sandwiches, pasta with alfredo sauce, white rice in chicken broth, turkey meatloaf, pancakes, waffles, any kind of fresh fruit, bagels, toast. She doesn't like many vegetables but she will eat some brocolli, cucumber and tomatoes marinated in oil and vinegar, and some avocado.
I hope this was helpful. Good Luck and let me know how it turns out.

Try:
Annie's mac and cheese--if she likes it you can sneak in veggies like peas or broccoli (or even better, homemade mac and cheese with whole wheat elbows is easy to make). Scrambled eggs are also versatile and kid-friendly. Baked potato wedges (yams too), turkey meatballs, spinach and potato pancakes/latkes (there are a number of good frozen brands, such as Health is Wealth and Dr. Praeger's if you don't have the time or the inclination to make your own). Sauteed zucchini with mozzarella cheese melted over it...steamed carrots tossed with a little bit of butter and brown sugar...

If you go to most of your local stores gerber has a couple boxes for the "gerber graduate" look for the ones that have smaller pieces. We did that to start my son off on normal food... we just looked for ones that fit his taste and went from there. Once he got use to those we started to cut the foods at home and save the money. He liked that they were just for him. He had his own spot in the closet for them.

It's My Party (Mamaroneck)-- check out website -- has a woman coming to speak on a Wednesday night (this one, maybe?) who specializes in sneaking good food into kid's meals. I think she's called the Sneaky Chef. Check it out!

My niece and Nephew are 18 month old Twins, I watch them for my sister most days and they love, the ramen noodles, Chicken Noodle Soup reg and the Goldfish kind, Grilled Cheese, Any kind of pasta. My suggestion if you do not have time, Buy the gerber graduates. They eat everything there parents eat, It makes it much easier on Dinner time...Just keep trying different foods and she may grow out of being a picky eater, seeing she is just starting and all.

My son is 16 months old and we give him "table time" or "gerber graduate" meals that can be found in the baby isle at the grocery store. There are mac and cheese and regular speghetti, there are also stews. He does really well with them. They're not too expensive either.
Good luck!!!
