Hi,
My daughter is 14 months old and I'm trying to feed her different kinds of food. However she is very picky! She loves pasta and eggs. Does anyone have simple recipes that might include meat or chicken?
Many thanks!

What can I do next?

Go to www.kraft.com. You can sign up to get free recipes in your email and quarterly they send you a free magazine. There are tons of ideas there that incorporate veggies into meals too. I love this. Campbell's does it too.

When my girls were that age, one of them was having trouble gaining weight (as well as being picky) so I was forced to be creative. I would make saffron rice and ball it up around cream cheese. They loved chick peas, which I would peel the skin off of and pop in half. They also actually loved tofu, firm and cubed. Of course now, they will now eat none of the above, so I hate to tell you, but you will be battling this for a while.... :-) Good luck!

Too bad you're in NYC, I teach a class for food for toddlers ( ages 9-15months) and their moms up in Bedford NY. Next class is Friday July 18th.

Picky eating behavior is almost exclusively a USA phenonmenon.
It's thanks to the food industry, kids menus and parents who are confused themselves on what to eat ( once again, thanks to the food industry and the USDA food pyramid!)

Two of my favorite books on this topic are Feeding the Whole Family by Cynthia Lair and Keeping your Child Healthy with Chinese Medicine by Bob Flaws.

I've got a PickyEater E-book on my website along with other books on food for teens and tweens. Visit www.drsusanrubin.com

Just wanted to toss out that picky eating can be a sign of food allergy/sensitivity. I'd suggest eliminating wheat/gluten and eggs from your daughter's diet for a period and see if her interest in other foods increases. I know for a fact that when my daughter is exposed to her allergen she becomes VERY picky. But normally she will eat anything that tastes good.

We totally do not do kids food in my house. DD eats whatever is at the table--favorites include curry (Indian, Japanese, Thai, you name it), sushi, any kind of sauerkraut/lacto-fermented veggies, fresh veggie sticks with any kind of dip like thing (Pesto, tapenade, homemade mayonnaise, hummus, nut&seed butters, avocado dip, guacamole, salsa . . . ) and of course anything she can make a mess with :D
