I just got a letter from my doctor that says he is moving to MD pediatrics. My kids are very pick on who they see and really like this doctor and so am I. Well I was wondering how well is this MD pediatrics. Are they good doctors and do you get to see the same doctor all the time? Do they answer your questions or do they rush you out the door? Is there a waiting room for sick and well kids separate or all the kids in the same waiting room?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your advice. This has been a hard decision because my girls and I like Dr. Smalley and the staff at Kids Care. We had a family talk with the older girls and we decided to go ahead and go with Dr. Smalley. We just hope we get to see him when we go.
Thank you all!

E.,

My son (7 months old), as well as my brother (9 years old) have gone to MD Pediatrics since birth. I actually went there when I was born also. They are great, we normally see Dr. Leung but we have see everyone in the practice and they are all great, caring, nurturing people. They are concerned about everything you are concerned with, they take the time and answer every question you might have and never rush you out. In fact they tell me,"Hey if you need to feed him in here you are more than welcome."

My son was a big spitter when he was born and we changed formulas and that didn't help so they advised us to get a sonogram done just to be sure. They take every precaution neccesary to keep your kids well or to help you get them well. In fact they tell me,"Hey if you need to feed him in here you are more than welcome." They don't prescribe meds just to get you out of the office. They give great advise also. My son had a bad head cold back in October and they told my everything to try and said that if that doesn't work don't be scared about calling and talking to a nurse.

The Lewisville office has a seperate waiting room for well kids but you have to walk through the sick kid area, the Coppell Office has 2 seperate doors for well and sick. They just opened up an office in Flower Mound and I haven't been there yet but I hope it is similar to the Coppell office.

I really hope this helps.

We go to MD Pediatrics and love it. We have seen every doctor and my boys like them all. I prefer to see Dr. Leung and if we have a choice that is who we see. I like the fact that they are open late and always have an appointment for my boys (even if it's not with my preferred doc).

The office in Flower Mound has 2 entrances for well and sick visits. I've never been to the Coppell office as we use the Lewisville office for all of our visits.

Hope this helps with your decision.

When my children were patients at MD Pediatrics, they only had the Lewisville office. We saw Drs. Holt, Fitzgerald, and Kincaid. I left when my son was 2 and wished I had left sooner.

If I had trusted my mommy gut more then instead of the doctors with the degrees and experience, I may have saved my son from being so miserable for so long. Long story short: I had taken my son in, was blown off, "just a virus", waited about 2 weeks with no improvement, again blown off "just a virus", waited another 2 weeks and blown off for the final time. I switched to a different doctor's office. He suggested a change in allergy medication. Within a few days my son was remarkably better.

I have a few other stories that I can tell, but it would make this too lengthy. I always had a long wait there to be seen even though I always had an appointment. One time I waited for 2 hours to see the doctor and I had 2 kids under the age of 3.

In the Lewisville office you have to walk through the sick area to get to the well area. It was pretty open (a wall with openings on either side. Not everyone followed the guidelines for "well area" either.

I never felt rushed, but I didn't feel like they were always being thorough.

We love the place we are at now if you decide to leave and look elsewhere.

I have had my kids at MD Pedi for 3 years. We LOVE them!!!
I have even moved to Denton and continue to go there because I love them so much!

All the Drs there are wonderful. (Fitzgerald is my least favorite, but since there are so many others that I like he is easy to avoid) Yes, there are quite a few Drs and several nurse practitioners, but they are all wonderful. When we have sick visits we sometimes have to see the NPs but they are very knowledgeable and if they have any questions or worries they will pull in one of the Drs.
Most of the Drs and NPs know my children by their first names. (no, we aren't there very often) ;) It's just that they took the time to remember us.

I have been to all 3 locations. The Flower Mound and Coppell locations have 2 separate doors for sick and well child waiting areas. The Lewisville has one entry door and a large waiting area with a partition wall for the well child area.

I personally like the Lewisville and Flower Mound locations best.

Good luck with your decision!!

We switched to MD Pediatrics when my daughter was 2 so we've been going there 3 years now. We've seen every doctor. You can request to see the doctor you want, but if you want to be seen right away they may not be there at that time. I haven't had a bad experience with any of the doctors or PAs there. They do seem to have new nurses each time we go and sometimes I don't like a particular nurse's 'bedside manner', but I can live with that because I like Dr. Holt, Dr. Leung, and Dr. Fitzgerald. They've always diagnosed my children correctly and done cultures and such to confirm their diagnosis. They also are good about giving drug samples for some things so you don't even have to get the prescription filled. This really helped us when DH was in school and we were strapped for cash.

I know who your doctor is!!! I got the same letter although I had seen it last week during our 18 month visit. Anyways, MD Pediatrics website it www.mdpedi.com if you want to take a look. They seem to have a bunch of docs on staff which could be good but that worries me that we won't see Smalley when we go. He also told me that he was going to be at the location in Flower Mound on 2499 but they have three locations so I'm a bit worried that he might move around. I really like the current office and I'd hate to leave but we've been seeing Smalley since the beginning so I'd hate to change right now also. I'll be interested to see what people say about MD Pediatrics.

My girls (4 and 16 months) have been patients of Dr. Leung at MD Pediatrics since they were born. He is wonderful as are all of the other physician's we've seen there. They have always been willing to spend any amount of time necessary with us and I have never felt rushed. They also have great hours and a very responsive medical advice line answered by the nursing staff. I can't say enough great things about them.

We have referred many friends there and they have all be thrilled as well.

Good luck and God Bless
