Hi mamas! My son will be turning 4 at the end of September. This will be his first "real" birthday party (meaning we're inviting his preschool friends and all their parents, not just family and close friends). We normally have his parties at our house, but I think it's just too small for this group, which will be about 9 or 10 kids (crawlers all the way to age 4) and maybe 15 or 20 adults. Bottom line is this...I need to find a place to have a cheap birthday party that a bunch of toddlers could have fun at. My son wants Chuck E Cheese, but we just can't afford it. Any ideas? I actually thought of having it at Chick Fil A (maybe in the morning before a lot of people get there), but I don't know if that would work or not. Thrifty moms, I need your help! :)

I have 10 and 7 year old grandchildren that live out of state, and every time they come to visit they want to go to Jump n Land. They love to play the games (which at their age can get expensive) and love the big slides. I love taking them there, because I can just sit and watch them have a blast. There are jumpers for all ages, from toddlers to the big kids. I don't know the prices or if they are cheaper than Chuck E Cheese, but I know my grandkids would rather go here than Chuck E's. Good luck and have fun!

I don't know what malls are in McKinney, but I attended a boy's 3rd bday party at the Stonebriar mall by the mall carosel. She did a cowboy theme, and all the kids got to ride the carosel for free. She started the party the hour before the mall opened so there was some time that they were all alone. However, I am not sure if there is a cost to reserve it. Hope this helps!

What about celebration park in allen or town lake park in mckinney? you could also just have it in your backyard. do a dinosaur theme and do a dig, fishing theme and set up kiddie pools and let the kids fish. i think that would be great! have fun!!

I have been to alot of preschool parties with my daughter, now 5 years old. The most popular and the one I even used was Animal House Parties in Mckinney off of Industrial. I can't say that the people that work there are overly friendly. But the kids always have a blast and usually napping by the time you get home. YEAH:) The price is pretty good too. Good luck!

How about having it at a town park? I live near Finch park, and I know that there's a picnic pavilion there that you can reserve for either free or very little money. I've seen several parties there, often with 30-40 people including kids. Depending upon your budget, you could simply pack a picnic for everyone and let the kids use the playground and splashpad, or I've seen folks rent bouncy houses, etc, and set them up there. There are bbq's there, too, if you'd like to grill burgers and dogs. You could do this at other parks around McKinney, too. Check out this website, which tells you what is offered where:

I really don't think you should need to spend a lot of money on a 4-year-old's birthday; there's plenty of fun to be had for free! GL!

We had my son's 4th birthday at Jump n' land in McKinney. He loved it, everyone had an awesome time! It's been nearly 4 months since my son's party and he still talks about his fun party.

Hi, I don't know how much it costs but Adventure Kids Play care in McKinney on Eldorado and Hardin behind the mcdonalds has reserved bday parties on Sundays and its a great place for toddlers and older ones. I really dont think its as expensive as the other places but I could be wrong.

As for Chuck E cheese I always do my parties there myself with out booking it through them. you can go online to chucke cheese.com and sign up for their coupons and print a ton of them and use them on the party day... this helps a lot you can get 1 large pizza 4 large drinks and 35 token for 19.99 or less... you would need about 4-5 of these packages for the party so that would cost you $100.00 then you can get 100 tokens with coupon for 15.00 so thats not too bad. they dont let you bring your own paper goods so you save money there and you can use each coupon like 4-5 times and you can use more than one so print several and use them all... you can bring your own cake as well. we usually go to the one off 75 and mcdermit. you would not get a reserved table but you can get there about 10:30 and grab a bunch together. Have them cut the pizza slices small and put one pizza on each table/booth.

Hope that helps, You can even buy party favors there they have goody bags for like 1.99 each in the gift shop rack or let me know if I can create special favors for you.

I am a single mom who lives in an apartment so not having room or money to do much is well known to me. The first party I did was at McDonalds for my daughter...the next 2 were at my dad's house so I borrowed a house...This year she is turning 4 ans I have ideas but I haven't settled on anything yet. Parks in McKinney are great and easy to reserve....I believe there are 5 parks....Jump N Land is also a fun place but they aren't responsible for any accidents. And if you do have an accident, they make you fill out paper work before you can leave....trust me I know from experience of a 5 yr old breaking her arm and before we could leave to go to the emergency room they stopped us to fill out paperwork. Didn't appreciate that. A really cool idea if you can find somewhere to do it is a paint party. Get a bunch of butcher paper and tell everyone to wear clothes that they can get dirty in and let all the kids get dirty in paint and markers. They will have a blast. Otherwise they internet and yellow pages are great places to look up things like clowns, petting zoos, and other ideas. Some are actually pretty cheap. Hopefully I've said something that will help...GOODLUCK!

I've actually been working on the same thing for my 8 year old upcoming birthday party. One place I have been considering is Celebration Park in Allen, TX. You can google it but it's off of Exchange Pkwy. There is an outdoor splash pad and a big playground for kids of all ages. There are 2 covered picnic areas and there are bathrooms, which is great. I don't think you can reserve the covered areas, they are first come, first serve but anytime we have been there they are not being used. I was going to take hotdogs and chips, a cake and either ice cream or popsicles... do the food and gifts first and then let them all go play. They can leave as soon as they are done. Easy, no clean up and very inexpensive. I don't think the water runs in the splash pad on Wednesday but is on every other day of the week. I hope this helps!
