I am wondering if any of you have a Maxi-Cosi Priori convertible car seat and what you think about it. I have only been able to see it online and haven't found a store that carries it to be able to look at it.

Also, do any of you know how I can find out how the safety rating is? I have read reviews about other ones, but want to know specifically about this one.
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would agree with the last comment. We had one but got rid of it and replaced it with a Britax because our son has always topped the charts and it was not comfortable for him. The straps were too short and it made it hard to get him in and out. Target used to carry them but obviously don't anymore.

Hi C.,
We have the Priori and have had it for well over a year now. Our son is 27 months old. I have just been thinking that the straps are getting a little tight, but overall we have liked the seat very much. It is safe and secure in our older, non-LATCH vehicle. I got ours at Amazon.com, but yes, they did used to carry them at Target. I'm sorry - I don't have any information about the safety ratings, but maybe Maxi-Cosi would have information on their web site? Good luck!

All car seats pass the exact same safety tests, no car seat is "safer" than another. The differences are ease of installation and use, and cosmetic things like cup holders, extra padding, etc. carseatsafety.org is a great website to get information.

Short shell, short harness weight (40lbs), most kids outgrow it in height before 3yrs old. For $200, you can get 3-4 other seats that will last you years longer.

first Years TrueFit- $150-$175- rear face to 35lbs, forward face to 65lbs, fits most kids in teh harness to age 6. Great seat, highly recommended, great price and you can use it for a full 6yrs.

Graco MyRide65- $150- Rear face to 40lbs, forward face to 65lbs. Fits most kids in the harness to age 6. GREAT seat for extended rear facing (my son fit in this rear facing to 4yrs old!) and its easy on the budget, very plush and easy to use. GREAT seat.

SUnshine Kids Radian- $200 Rear face to 40lbs, forward face t o65lbs (or 80 for the Xtsl, howver the top harness slot is the same height as the 65....) Great seat for fitting 3 across, high rear facign weight great for ERF. Most kids can use the harness to age 6/7.

Britax Marathon or Boulevard- $200-$300- rear face to 35lbs, forward face to 65lbs. Easy to use, easy to wash and remove cover, last most kidsto age 6/7 in the harness. GREAT seat, we have a Marathon and it was by far our favorite seat.

In my opinion (and the opinions of most car seat safety technicians through SAfe Kids), teh Maxi Cosi seat, while nice, functional, plush, is not worth the money at all. For $150 you can get a convertible that will last your child 2-4yrs longer than the Maxi Cosi. I would not purchase one.
