Maturation Book Recommendations

I want a book for my boys. Something with tasteful illustrations and explanations about puberty and sex. My internet searches are turning up results that are books meant for older kids, and without pictures. I need something simpler. We aren't to the point of needing complex answers to complex questions. I just want something to illustrate the nuts and bolts and be a simple companion to the talks we have at this point in their young lives.

So I need book suggestions. Please tell me you have better answers than Google and Amazon!

2. It's not the stork (book)
3. What's the Big Secret (book

These are all meant for a wide range of ages and have illustrations in a cartoons. The also use a little humor which helps.

You don't say how old your boys are, but I recommend two books - How Did I Get Here? and What's Happening to Me? both by Peter Mayle
About reproduction and puberty - illustrations appropriate for children, tasteful and matter-of-fact.

You don't mention their ages. I liked The Body Book for Boys and What's Going on Down There? - but in that 2nd book, you may want to decide what's appropriate for your kids' ages.

Have you looked at the website A Mighty Girl? They have a great section of books about puberty and sex. Although the website is directed at girls, several of the books in their section on anatomy and physiology are also appropriate for boys.

You may even want to go to your nearest library and check out what they have to see if its exactly what you're looking for and then, literally check them out ! Just a thought,....

Since you mention "illustrating the nuts and bolts", keep in mind that there are ways you can discuss sex without using a book that can sometimes be more effective than a book.

Nuts and bolts - the way they connect - is one example of a way to open up a conversation.

Books like "My Body My Self" are good for explaining the process of puberty. And books like that are good for kids to read on their own, in case they have questions that they don't immediately want to discuss.

I had "Where Did I Come From" and "What's Happening to Me" when I was young. Still have them, in fact! :) You didn't say how old your boys are so these may not be appropriate for them, but they're worth a look!
