I've used them a few times. I've gotten a good massage, not great, but good and the price is reasonable compared to a spa.
So my husband has been trying to get me to take one day a week to go to the spa or do something just for me. I think I may take him up on it.
Has anyone ever been to a Massage Envy? Are they good places? Reputable? Any information would be great!
Thanks!

I know you are probably going to get mixed reviews about Massage Envy but I have gone a few times for a massage after a long run.
They have all been pretty good by different people at different locations.
Finally, I found one I really liked, the River Oaks location. I had a guy and he was fantastic. He got all of the kinks. I have gone to him two more times.
I cannot remember his name but I would be glad to find out if you are interested.
I just wanted to ask where you got your husband and if they have any more like him? lol!
I am a massage therapist and it's probably best to ask around locally or just go experience it for yourself. It really comes down to the therapists who are there and the way the business is run as well as the feeling you have while you're there. Trust your gut. I'd say give them a try, tell them what kind of massage you want and try different therapists to find one (or two) who you really like. Don't be afraid to speak up about specifics that you or don't want. It really is helpful.
Enjoy!!
I belonged to Massage Envy in Denver for a few years. It is one of the things I miss the most since moving away. There isn't one within 1/2hr of me now and I just don't have time to drive that far. The one in Denver was 5mins away. It isn't a day spa - you won't get "pampered", but if you're looking for a great, solid, work-those-kinks-out-of-those-muscles massage, or even a kids-are-driving-me-up-the-wall-I-need-a-relaxing-break massage, you'd be in the right place. Plus it's super inexpensive compared to a day spa. I paid $49 per month for a 1hr massage and if I wanted any more they were $39 each. I can't find a 1hr massage under $90 where I live now! I also had a hot stone massage done there and it was awesome. It's a franchise, so like any franchise, you could get a wonderful experience or a not so great one. Mine had really good massage therapists and I was really very happy there. The one you're considering might not be so great or it could be really wonderful. Go have their introductory $39 1hr massage that they offer. Tell them you're considering joining and let them know exactly what you're looking for so they set you up with the right massage therapist (eg. deep tissue vs relaxation, light vs strong pressure, like to/don't like to talk during massage, male/female therapist). They can't read your mind, so make sure you tell them your preferences. Relax and enjoy!
Massage Envy is nice but I like the whole Day Spa experience which you dont get there. There you go in, undress, get your massage then your done. I like getting nice thick robe, sitting in the sauna, having a hot shower, and sitting in jacuzzi tubs. I think you get much more pampered at Day Spas then massage envy.
Massage envy does have memebrships though so if you are planning on making it a wekly ritual then it would be the best bet, just find a massuse that you are comfortable with there and request the same one each time.
I used to go to Massage Heights and I liked them. Also, if you are looking for a spa day, you might try the Retreat in New Braunfels. I understand that they are really good!
I've not been to Massage Envy but it is a chain. I understand it is not a spa experience.
If I were you, I'd go to an upscale hotel or salon to get a spa experience.....warm robe, wine or drink of choice, snack, showers, hot tub, sauna, etc...you get the point.
Enjoy
I personally did not have a good experience there. I asked for a deep tissue massage, and the masseuse left bruises. He was not attentive to my needs or my reactions to his pressure. I left more tense than when I arrived. My girl friend swears by the place, and goes monthly.
I've been to Massage Envy twice out here in Las Vegas and had really excellent experiences both time. The ambiance, the customer services and the masseuse have been the same as what I have found at other high-end spas. If you do decide to go, I hope that you are able to have the same kind of experience that I have had.
Yes ive been to them. Theyre great. Depends on the therapist you get assigned to actually. You just tell them how you like your massages and you'll be good to go.
I think it depends what type of massage you like. I personally like the deep tissue, really work it, massages. A lot of these types of places (I haven't been here, but went to Elements) don't seem to have the training for it or something. See if you can find a coupon for a cheap first visit. If you like them, keep going.
Good for your husband! And good for you! How lucky!
We had neighbors that tried Massage Envy, and he was not happy. Like someone else mentioned, some therapists are good and some not so much. He was getting fewer and fewer good massages so he went to Oak Haven and told us about it.
My husband goes to Oak Haven Massage on Huebner Rd and has been very happy with every therapist there. My kids go every once in a while when they have tightness and problems in their back/ necks. Being in hihg school & college, they carry 40 + lbs of books around every day and it takes a toll on their growing spines.
We recommend Oak Haven.
I have had good and I have had bad experiences w/ places like Massage Envy. I think it really helps to know or at least know of the person you have the appt w/. With that said, Ginger Dorsey Schultz at the Westlake location of Massage Envy in Austin is FANTASTIC. She is extremely intuitive and has very strong hands, a lot of knowledge and a lot of skill. I very highly recommend her.
Good for you...sounds like you got a good man!
don't know if you're part of Groupon.com, but today's groupon is a spa package worth $205 for $69 and you can choose from 4 different packages. I don't know where the spa's are that are part of it, but it'd worth looking into!!!! We got facials from Aveda Inst. last week and my daughter went and they offered us more of the same when we were checking out!!! Great deal!!!
I've been a member of Massage Envy for about 4 years now and have always been happy with them. Prior to Massage Envy I lived in the Chicago area and always went to Mario Triccoci which was more of the whole Day Spa thing. I love getting my monthly massage. And they do have trained therapists who can do deep tissue, hot stone therapy, and a whole menu of other massages to suit your needs. I believe they do a $39 first time massage which you really can't beat for price. Go give it a try, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
Good luck,
K.
You know I have never been there, but I like them. They are always whiling to give gift certificates for fund raisers that I organize.
My husband and I have been members for a while. We really like it, but each one is very different. The ones in Saint Louis are more quiet, relaxing, and tailored to make the customer feel relaxed. The one in Eden Prairie, MN is not as quiet, not as inviting, and the staff just has a different feel.
I highly recommend it. If you become a member, you can get discounted rates for each massage. Enjoy!
