Ladies -

Trying to get on the thrifty bandwagon. Just because you have enough doesn't mean you have to spend it like its going out of style. Hubs and I have started brewing our own coffee and taking it in disposable to-go cups we bought at costco. (I know it isn't terribly green). Also, we are brownbaging. We figure that we each spend $5-7 for breakfast and $7-12 for lunch daily. Our out of pockets will be reduced by a combined $200 a week. Will have to do some number crunching to see how much we actually save.

I'm looking for more ideas.

Do any of you know of a site similar to mamapedia, but geared for people trying to save money/ create wealth? I like the mamapedia format, of reading other people's questions and answers, and of being able to search old postings. I also like the local q&a.

Thanks a bunch

Have you heard of Dave Ramsey? If you are truly wanting to be more financially responsible, he has some great concepts. His program is not for the weak or faint of heart, though. Even if you don't want to follow it, he & his followers have some great advice.

Anyway, his site has an online forum -

Hope this helps!

I understand that sometimes eating lunch out with co workers is part of the deal so save money on the breakfast ... here is a good one pan quick breakfast I used to make in the am's for me and my hunny that took 10 min, I would start it while wating for my flat iron to heat up and my moisturizer to set ...
1 med potatoe (russet/yukon gold use 2) peeled and shredded (I like them shredded big.) - you can peel the potatoes ahead of time and store them in water but you loose some of the flavor.
beat 1 egg - 2 egg whites
4 strips of bacon
Burrito tortillas (wheat works)
In a VERY LARGE skillet 16" is what I use pour 1-2tbsp of oil and spread evenly ... add the potatoe shreds to one side of the skillet, season as you like (pepper/garlic salt is my fav), place the bacon strips on the other side of the skillet, once the potatoes are ready to flip then add the egg mixture ON TOP of the potatoes and flip them. Put the tortillas in the microwave for 20 sec then fill with the bacon strips (two each) cut the potatoes in half and fill the tortilla ... at this time you can add cheese if you like or salsa ... wrap the burrito (top and bottom then side and roll) and place the "seam" of the burritos on the hot skillet ... this creats a seal of sorts to help keep the burrito together brown the other side if desired. Practice it on the weekeds to work out the timing if needed, I would get dressed in between stages or fix the thermos' with their coffee etc ... This was a favorite of my house. You can also add bell peppers, spinach yum!, mushrooms or anything you would put in a breakfast burrito or scrambler. We both stopped spending money for breakfast/coffee and reserved it for lunch, still bringing lunch as often as possible.
Grocery food shopping is where you can save money by using services like www.thegrocerygame.com or buying from places like costco/sams smartly and cooking at home.
