I would get him a x-mas coffee mug or regular one filled with candy! Can't go wrong and probably won't collect dust

I know I have read some previous post regarding holiday gifts for teachers but I don't remember seeing any specific for male teachers. My son is in 3rd grade and this is our first boy teacher. I would like to give him something nice before the holiday break but just not sure what. Any mom's have some good boy teacher gift idea's?
Thank you everyone for the GREAT idea's!! I was all set to get a gift certificate as that seemed to be the most suggested, then on Friday both of my kids brought a note home from school that said because of the economic times, they are asking parents not to buy anything for the teachers. Because there may be other kids who just can't this year. Instead, they asked that we wrap a non-parishable food item that the kids will then open and donate to a food shelve. i love this idea. They also have a giving tree that each teacher has written things they could use for the classroom so I will be wrapping up some food and picking up a few things off the tree. Thanks again for all the great ideas!

M. -- I've worked in a school district for 17 yrs now. Male teachers LOVE gift cards to a hardware store, to an electronics store, OR to a Teacher's Outlet store. They also very much appreciate gift cards to book stores and things like that. If you know for a fact that he comes to school with a coffee in his hand ... get him a gift card to a coffee shop by the school.
Good luck!

what about you and some of the other moms get together and buy one gift card at his favorite restaurant that way he and his wife and go out for a night evening. That is what we did, all the mom got together and put in 5 dollar for each kid and then bought a gift card at two places and some stuff that he might need for the class room.
We just addressed the issue of gifts for teachers in our MOPS group today. The former teachers made the strong suggestion that parents ask the teachers if there's anything that they would like for their classroom. They indicated that those were the things that they appreciated the most - things like age-appropriate games and crafting supplies that they would have bought out of their own pockets were a real blessing to them.
My husband is a 5th grade teacher. He loves to get gift cards for just about anywhere. We use the ones from restaurants for dinners now and then, and it's so nice to have them!! He also likes the ones from like Home Depot or something like that. Hope this helps!
M., I would go with a gift card to a restaurant (like Chipotle, Noodles, etc - not McD's...) or movie theater. Universally liked and not gender specific.
It's very thoughtful of you to think of your son's teacher! I recommend you check with your school district for gift policies. I'm not sure if it's a local or state-level ruling, but in the district in which I teach, gifts for teachers have to be $5 or under, or we cannot by law accept them. Sad, I know!
I agree with gift cards. Office supply stores or Target are great. Barnes & Noble is really nice (what teacher doesn't like to read?). Restaurants are fun.
Another option is if your son's class participates in Scholastic Book Club there is an option to donate to your child's class for your teacher to buy books. I believe it's in increments of $4 so you can choose how much to donate.
You can never go wrong with gift cards! Bookstores, restaurants, movies, Target etc. are great and really appreciated.
I have made cookies in the past and put them in a cute holiday box, you could attach an ornament. Another appreciated gift is a book store gift card. Good Luck...:)
My mom and stepdad are both teachers and they say the best gift to get teachers is a gift card.
My sister and borther-in-law are teachers. They both love gift cards to book stores.
Other suggestions would be Amazon.com, best buys, restaurants, pizza hut.
I read the first responses and they are all exactly on target. Teachers (male or female) spend a ton of their own money in the classroom, so gift cards for things they can buy for the class are really appreciated.
So are gift cards to restaurants and coffee shops!
I bet he'd love a Starbucks card.
I'm not suggesting this cuz I sell the stuff...but when a gal told me about it, I decided it's a great idea...run with it as there are lots of ways to do it...
Tastefully Simple sells salsa's. One of the fave's is Corn, Black Bean Salsa. Grab a jar of some salsa and a bag of Frito's or other corn chips....viola!
I have friends that are teachers, they appreciate gift cards for restaurants or the movies. Also, the classroom supplies is a good idea or you could get a gift card for Target or and Office supply store or teaching supply store. That way he could get something when he needed it.
I'm a speech therapist and work at a school. I eat lunch with a bunch of teachers, many of them male. I asked your question, and the teachers all said that gift cards are much appreciated.
Gift card to a coffee place nearest the school.
I also think gift cards are a great idea, but you are supposed to be careful this year and make sure you get one from a company that will still be around after the holidays. I like to donate an educational toy or game to the classroom. I sell Discovery Toys so I often let the teachers look at the catalog and give me a wish list and then my son chooses the item. This year I donated a tub of Legos for play during indoor recess and other free play times. Happy Holidays.
Honestly, gift cards to a bookstore or restaurant are nice.
You could order him a travel mug with his name on it. I did that for my husband as a stocking stuffer last year for christmas. He is a teacher, and is constantly bringing my mugs and tumblers to school and then on Friday he brings home a bunch to wash again. Lillians had them for $6 each last winter with free ingraving so I also ordered one for myself and my inlaws who were here for Christmas.
I would ask him if he wants/needs supplies for his classroom: games, kleenex, gel pens etc. Supplies may be boring, but it may be something he has to buy out of his own pocket. Also, some schools (like mine) limit the dollar amount you can give to the teacher, but not for classroom supplies. So you could purchase some needed supplies and always tuck a Starbucks, etc gift card in it so he can use just for him!!
My brother is a 4th-year Kindergarten teacher, so he's had some experience with gifts already. He likes gift cards to different places like his favorite coffee shop, Subway, Pizza Hut, etc. Coffee mugs, tins of candies, simple things like that.
My brother is a K teacher and athletic coordinator, he's an BIG hunter and one K-kid got him a 5 inch jack knife and it was quite the issue when he opened it at school. He said his ultimate favorite is restaurant gift cards! Without them he said on teachers pay you could never afford to go out to eat.
