Okay so to make an auction, the gift certificates to a local movie theater are a great idea. But you need a good piece to fill the basket out too, so the popper appliance is cute, but even a jiffy pop foil pan would look fun in a gift basket.
Looking for creative ideas! I'm making a "movie night" gift basket for a silent auction raffle at my daughter's school. Looking for some great ideas!!! What we have so far: snacks like chips and movie candy, a couple movies, popcorn, ice cream sundae supplies. I was thinking of adding a "air popcorn popper appliance" and some kernels. Any other good ideas? I want to draw good bidding!

Netflix membership gift certificate.
I have recipes for flavored popcorn salts, if you either want to include the recipes, or actually make the salts...message me your email, or anyone else that may want them, and I'll send it to you. =) Also, get a gift card to one of the local theaters too, free movies are nice.
I would make several baskets - we have had success at our school with silent auctions and instead of doing just one - several.
One would have some of the new movies out - chick flicks - with popcorn, candy and drinks.
One would be thriller - some of the classic movies...
FAMILY NIGHT - this one included a card game, two family movies - like Scooby Do and Space Chimps, popcorn, candy, drinks.
Date night - gift certificate to the local movie theater, restaurant card.
If you have a Blockbuster near you - get a letter from your PTA and they may be able to donate the movies.
Also take the letter to your local theater - they can donate movie tickets too.
Our local grocery stores have a set amount they donate throughout the year. If you present them with a letter from the PTA with what you are looking to do - they will most likely donate it to you.
Blockbuster gift cards, Movie gift cards and instead of an appliance, how about a big popcorn bowl?
Instead of an air popper, how about one of these theater poppers?

They make WAY better popcorn.
That along with some popcorn, maybe a Netflix gift certificate and movie candy and a dvd or two would make an awesome basket. I would bid on it!
Often I can find cute plastic containers that look like movie popcorn bags in the dollar section at Target. They don't always have them, so I stock up when I see them (since I like move themed baskets too). I usually do hot cocoa supplies, but the sundae sounds yummy ;)
I would consider including drinks possibly bottles of water or juice boxes for children's movies. We just went to the movies this weekend and the kids begged for soda b/c its only a treat they get at the movies.
Recipe for butter toffee or caramel. Perhaps a portable DVD Player.
I'm loving the flavored salt idea with the movie passes and Netflicks gift certificate.
I know I've seen paper containers for popcorn like the movie theaters have at Wegmans and Giant Eagle where we are. that would be cute. We have been making jiffy pop again too so that would be good. the gourmet butter/salts are a great idea. sounds like you have some awesome ideas already!! sounds like a great basket :)
