K.E. asks from Parker, CO

Hey there moms' I am sure someone has asked this before, but I'm having a hard time finding anything from past posts. I am looking to update my face and makeup. Could anyone suggest any brands they like that would be good for sensitive skin. Not to mention stuff that doesn't smear ( by the end of the day my mascara makes me look like a raccoon) I would also love to learn what works good for me and then any tricks out there to give different looks, such as smoky eyes ect.. So is there anyplace I could go for a consult? It seems funny that as moms we dont get the time to do stuff like this, but as my daughter is getting older I am finding out I like to get out of sweats and pony tails and look nice for a change. Thank you ladies in advance.

What can I do next?

Hi K.,
I'm not sure where you are located, but I'm in Parker, CO and have been a consultant with Mary Kay for the past 8 years. I do exactly what you are looking for - helping moms out there get an updated look. I'd be happy to help you and don't charge for a pampering session to try products before you buy. Our products are safe for sensitive skin and we have some wonderful mineral colors to choose from too. Just send me a message if you are interested. Have a great day!

Dear K.,

If you want to see ways of applying eye make-up or other ways of make-up application go to youtube.com and search, for example, smoky eye application, etc. its fun to see demos and then try them yourself! If you want a free "professional" consult go to www.customskinsolutions.com (located in Denver Tech Center)and you can request a consult for your skin with a personal make-up matching session using "Everyday Minerals" brand mineral make-up. It has no filler ingredients and is very inexpensive.

Arbonne has amazing makeup! Call Amie 303-46-9484 she will get you some free samples. They have the best mascara in the world and everything is made vegan. I love it!

I only wear Clinique - and they have a good skin care system too. the makeup is hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic - which means it's easy on sensitive skin and won't clog pores. The consultants will do a free makeover for you right at the store counter and draw it on a chart so you can do it at home.

Hi K., I just go to Ulta and get the Bare minerals. I purchase the Id foundation, warmth and mineral veil. They will help you choose the right color for your skin tone. My daughter in law told me about it and I told my daughter. Now we all three use it and really enjoy how natural looking it is. They also have colors for eye shadow but I find myself just running to Wal-mart and getting almay's intense i-color. There are three shades in the compact already for my eye color. I have also bought the mascara that corresponds with the compact. Have fun! K. K.

I like the brand PHysicians Formula.

There's a salon called Yale Station Spa near I25 and Yale. It's great. It's like a salon for 'normal' people because it's a nice luxury (to me anyway) but not expensive compared to other places. There's someone who does facials and makeup and all.

Go to www.cosemeticsdatabase.com. There are so many toxic chemicals in our personal care, makeup and skin care products. Keep in mind what you put on your skin is in our body in about 30 seconds. I've written a recent article compiling all the ingredients you need to look out for. livinghealthiernow.com I can give you info on a certified organic skin care line which is very economical and great for sensitive skin.

Definitely utilize that website and look at the ingredients. It is the day in day out, year after year accumulation of these toxins that can cause the problems. Unfortunately the industry is self regulated. In the UK, there are 1100 banned ingredients and in the US only 10. Be careful, as claims of "natural", "botanical" and "organic" are not aleays what you think. I used a skin care line that was billed as being natural and botanical and every product contained 2-6 ingredients off a Toxic 12 List.

Take care,
S.
