Has anyone use this? Does it work? Does it cost more than they say?

My purpose would be to call work related business from home that I did not want to use my personal phone and blocking does not always work.

Thanks for your help.

I have not tried it myself and actually just heard about it last week because the office where I work is looking into getting them for employee work from home days. I do have a co-worker who already has one. She loves it & hasn't had any problems with it. She especially likes it because she lives in an area where cell phone reception is bad.

My dad has this and he loves it! He takes it with him when he goes to India so that he can make calls without being charged international rates. He's never had a problem with cost other than the yearly amount. You do want to make sure you have a good Internet connection and as long as you do, then the calls sound great. I've used it to make calls and to receive calls and didn't have an issue with either. I'd recommend it.

Check to be sure it will work with 911. I've been told that sometimes it doesn't.

I've been using it for the second year now when we travel internationally! You pay a flat fee every year of $20, and I think the magicjack itself cost like $50. The call quality is very good as long as you have the highest speed! You get a local number so no one will even know that you're calling from a magicjack!

I follow a deal website and this is the one everyone is talking about. It's better quality. There are deals on the price from various sites (Amazon sells it) It may be worth researching.

Magic Jack has an "F" with the BBB. From what I've read if you don't have any problems - great! But if you do.. you could be in really frustrating territory.

Another free option would be to get a Google Voice number. You pick your area code and number (obviously it has to be available) It's by invite only, but I bet if you ask around on your facebook someone may have one. You can make calls through Google voice and have it call your phone. This would also give you an alternate number to give out for your business. Google voice is fantastic - you can have it ring any number you want (cell, home, etc) you can receive your voicemails as texts via email or SMS. And that is just the beginning. Like I said, it's free. :)

I have it a year ago and it is as advertise. Online live customer service 24/7 . One of the best I came across with. All you need is a computer with internet. If you shut down your computer it will not work.

This is our second year using it and it's definitely worth the money and no you don't pay extra beyond purchasing the unit and then $20.00 per year. It includes long distance too and you can also buy international minutes for cheap.

Hi there! I have used it for years and so has my dad. It has been awesome. No gimmicks at all and customer service has been great. If you are interested in getting a better deal on one, please let me know. We actually have a second one we are no longer using (we bought it for my husband for work and then his company also bought him one) and there is about four years left of prepaid service on it. If you would like it, I will be happy to sell it to you for half price! Just message me offline.

I tried it and it was horrible. We tried to set up our fax line on it and even with cable internet we couldn't get a good signal to the fax line. It would take 3-4 tries to send one page. I ended up giving the unit to a friend of mine who lives in a bigger town thinking maybe since I'm out in the country that's why it didn't work. She gave it back to me the next week saying she couldn't get a good signal with it either. And, they'll only refund your money within 30 days of purchase and you have to keep the package it came in. Well, I didn't have the package and it took me more than 30 days to find out it didn't work, so I was out $45 bucks. So, just try it and make sure it works before you get rid of your phone service.
