Lower Back and Pelvic Pain

I gave birth 8 weeks ago and for the past few days have had bad lower back pain and now for the past 2 days it has turned into lower back pain AND pelvic pain as well. I thought it was a UTI because whenever I have had them in the past my main symptom has been lower back pain. I went to my Doctor today and my urine came back clean, no uti. So, he told me to make an appointment with my OB and have her examine me but I can't get in to see her until Friday! I am just kind of freaking out wondering what this could be?! I had my post partum check up last week and she said everything looked fine during my exam. Could I be feeling this pain because of the exam? This all started a few days after...

edited: I did tell them about the back and pelvic pain but that was the earliest they could get me in she just said well if it gets worse go to urgent care! They took my temp at the dr yesterday, no fever. Today the back pain is gone but stomach pain is still very much there.

What can I do next?

When you called to make the appointment did you tell them you were having low back and pelvic pain? Did your regular doctor do a blood test for signs of an infection? If not, I'd be a "squeaky wheel" and ask to get in sooner. Most doctors have same day appointments for such conditions.

Are you sure this is related to pelvic problems? You have been carrying around an 8 week old baby and your body is probably saying "what? it used to be inside me?" Believe it or not I thought I had some inside UTI problems myself, borrowed a Bayer back and body symptons aspirin and it was like a miracle. So bought some and I cannot believe the change. Not certain that is your problem, but worth a try. Sometimes we confuse all these parts of our bodies for something else and it might be muscular instead of related to the girlie things.

If they can't establish what this is (and even if they do) go see a good chiropractor. I waited too long to do this after my daughter was born, wish I did it sooner: after a series of adjustments I feel like my back, hips and everything else that was involved in labor:) is in better shape then before birth! Big believer in chiropractic adjustment now. In combination with yoga I am completely pain free.

I don't know the extent of your pain -- but for me, I called my OB with similar symptoms and went back in for a recheck. I was told that my hips and pelvis were slowly shifting back to "normal" position and that the movement was causing the pain and the aches. It took about a week to 10 days with some advil and it eased up.

Of course, I'd still have them check for infections, re-run the UTI kit, etc -- better safe than sorry. Perhaps a trip to the chiropractor is a good idea??
