hi moms,
i need insurance for my baby girl. she was just booted off medical blue cross since my husband has a job now and we have too much income to qualify now. i am covered with work but it's too expensive to add her, and her dad can't add her until he is permanent in october or november. so i need immediate coverage until then. any ideas???thanks so much.

What can I do next?

You'll probably find that it will be cheaper to put her on yours. Doesn't sound like you will qualify for state aid.

If you live in California you can probably get Healthy Families, you will only pay a small premium every month - when I was on it I was paying $14 a month for 2 kids. So it isn't very much. I know they have programs like this in Idaho and other states too, they are just called something else and I can't remember right at the moment. Good luck.

Kaiser offers a low cost plan for babys and kids depending on your income it can be from 8-12 bucks a month the dental sucks but the medical is great 5 dollar co pays and 5 dollar precriptions. If that doesnt work try the program healthy families there the step before medi-cal.

Good Luck

Hi R.,

I know this is a late response, but because your baby is eligable to be covered under your work plan you do NOT qualify for:

Healthy Kids or
Healthy families
Medi-cal

BUT, you may qualify for AIM. Insurance deductibles or co-payments over $500.00 may qualify. Check the website, www.aim.ca.gov and you can check for sure. I don't think it has anything to do with your monthly premium though. If you'd rather call the number is 800-433-2611.

Hope this helps,
D.
