I always heard to wait a year after a miscarriage before getting pregnant.
Here's a little history before I ask my question. After having two beautiful, healthy children, I had 3 miscarriages, between September 2010 and August 2011. My doctor ran some tests after the second one and more after the third. Both times I had some things that came back abnormal but when they were re-checked the levels were back within the normal range. The only thing that was discovered during the last round of tests that didn't change was I'm homozygous for the PAI gene (I have a G4/G4, in case anyone reading this also has that diagnosis). My OB consulted a hematologist who told him that in the past that was linked to multiple miscarriages but the latest research doesn't support that. My doctor has recommended that I take Lovenox since it appears I have some blood clotting issue but it just hasn't been discovered. He said he's had patients with unexplainable miscarriages take Lovenox and it has worked. Of course the decision is up to me. I want another baby very much and I want to do whatever I can to prevent another miscarriage. So I guess my question is who has taken Lovenox during pregnancy? Has anyone taken it due to unexplained miscarriages and did it help? I know it won't be any fun to give myself a shot every day but if it results in a healthy baby it would be worth it. Also, if anyone has the PAI issue I'd love to hear about that. Looking forward to hearing your stories.

slightly different, but similar all the same. I have 3 older kids, 12, 10 and 8 (i'm 30 btw) in a one year span I m/c'd twice and testing was done, they found that I have the MTHFR gene mutation and they said that this explained the m/c's. FF I was told the first and easiest choice was aspirin and a medication called folgard (which is mega doses of b vitamins) and if I m/c'd a third time we would do lovenox.
The aspirin and folgard worked. I took both before TTC again and have a wonderful 11 month old baby boy. But here is the twist. i stopped the medications 6 weeks after having my son. I got pregnant again while breastfeeding. Now different doctor, but same office, there are several doctors where I go, no aspirin, current research doesn't support blood thinners preventing m/c's (as they told you). So we started the Folgard at about 6 weeks when I found out I was pregnant, and my little guy is currently beating on my bladder and is due to join the family in Feb.
So blood thinners can help, but it's still a 50/50 chance, I was really led to believe that I would never carry a baby without being on medications prior to getting pregnant, and that obviously isn't true. I know women that have taken the lovenox route with get success, and it's safe enough for the baby. It just depends on where you are emotionally and if it is what you want to do.
Good luck, and I hope that whatever route you choose there is a healthy little miracle waiting when the journey is over.
(and i was NEVER told to wait a year after my losses, most people say that you are most fertile right after a loss)
After my second miscarriage my doctor just about bled me dry with the amount of tests that she ran. But it worked she found an abnormality (and I can understand about having something show up on tests and then come back normal the next time. It's frustrating) but anyways she had me take 1 baby aspirin a day and 200mmg of folic acid every day.
I am now 34 weeks pregnant with my first child. The aspirin acts like a blood thinner and the folic acid-well it doesn't hurt to have extra of that. I stopped taking the aspirin before my 7th month. I was told I could take it up to my 8th but then I'd have to stop.
I had to take lovenox with my last pregnancy. I have a 4yr old & an 8mo old. Between the two of them I had 2 miscarraiges and after some blood work was diagnosed with 2 clotting disorders (never had a blood clot or any issues before). Anyway, it wasn't too bad. At 36wks I had to switch to heparin shots 2x/day (that sucked), then back to lovenox for 6wks after delivery. I had closer monitoring too with my youngest. My youngest was born small (5-13) at 38wks & my oldest was average (7-7) at 41wks. Towards the end my baby wasn't growing very much. I don't know if it was related to the lovenox/heparin or because of my seizure meds. I was on one of the same seizure meds with my oldest, but was at a higher dose & a small dose of another med with my youngest, along with the lovenox (& aspirin), then heparin. Anyway, they will do closer monitoring, and the injections suck and can be painful & leave lots of bruises, but it's worth it in the end :)
