Whichever lotion you try, use one with no parabens in it. Parabens mimic estrogen and they are absorbed by the body.
I use raw virgin coconut oil.
Hi moms! My baby has gotten a little "windburned" from our afternoon walks. Even though I have her bundled up, her cheeks have a funny look to them. Her skin looks dry but feels soft. Do you put lotion on your baby's face? If so, what kind. I don't want her to break out. My daughter is almost 9 months old but still gets a little acne. I'm hoping you moms have a suggestion. Thanks!
Awesome moms! Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I am going to give several of the products a try to see which works best. Thanks again!

Aquahphor is good for many things (it's great because it contains a plant-based anti-inflam)but if you don't want to put a petroleum based product on baby's face, Alba Botanicals makes a great product called "UN-petroleum jelly". I've since replaced Aquaphor for this. Find it in health food stores. I use it to prevent wind chap and on baby's bum overnight to prevent diaper rash.
I use Hydrocortizone cream on my baby's face. She is 14 months but gets Eczema so it helps to get rid of the red, dry and chapped skin. My Pediatrician recommended this for me. I Love Aquaphor myself for my lips but don't like my baby all greasy.
My baby gets wind rash and allergy rash and sun burns really easily on the apples of his cheeks-- they are often bright red. I use either locally-made plantain and goldenseal salves or Badger sunscreen. Badger sunscreen is so pure you can eat it and I use it as a salve, not just a sunscreen, because it works. Put in on and the skin will heal in no time.
I use Shea Nut butter by Allafia - best stuff for any kind of rash. You can get it a whole foods. It is all natural with no artificial anything. LOVE IT. One small tub lasts a very long time.'S.
ceptaphel in the tub is my woner cream.
I third the Aquaphor suggestion! =)I use it for my kids' dry skin (and for diaper rash when they were that age), and also I use it myself as a night time lip balm. It's the best stuff ever.
Put some A&D ointment and it will be better by the next day!
Good Luck!
We use the fragrance free Aveno for Baby. My sons pediatrician recommended it and ssid it was okay to put
it on his face.
We use the Aveeno Baby lotion and I do put it on my sons cheeks.
We love our California Baby and if need little extra protection, Aquaphor.

I have two daughters, 1.5 and 3.5 years old. As small babies they both experienced baby acne. To treat their skin, we used Lubriderm lotion. It worked well for them. However, given the really cold weather we have begun using Eucerin lotion. Its a little thicker and appears to be working effectively. Both lotions were recommended to us by the girls' pediatrician and can be purchased at hospital pharmacies as well as most drug stores. Good luck!

I have used Mustella StelaProtect for Face for a year and a half - swear by it - its a little on the pricey side $15.00 for a tiny pump tube - but a little goes a long way. My daughter has super sensitive skin. A small drool and she has a huge red mark that is chapped on her face. Food on her face and she gets a little pimple. Typically I use that and then apply Aquafor over the red areas. I know that aquafor looks greasy so you think it will cause baby acne ut it is the opposite - i usually put it on her at night before bed and then by morning she is all clear. I would also suggest putting it on the chapped areas as they appear but make sure to stay out of the sun - the aquafor would attract it and then she could get a sun burn.

My name is J. too :). I use a cream called "Egyptian Magic". It's recommended by my pediatrician. It's more a "all purpose" cream for dry skin. You can use it as a face cream or even for diaper rash. I've used it on my son for over a year now, he's over 2 1/2 now. Works really well. I got it at Whole Foods for $24 a small jar.
Happy Holiday!

I walk a lot and I use Aquaphor on my daughters cheeks right before we walk and often after we walk. I recently walked a 1/2 marathon and they were giving out sample packs of the Aquaphor at the check in place so I guess it's not just for baby's bottoms :O)
Best of luck and enjoy your walks.
Aquaphor is the best! I like Eucerin, too, but ended up buying a tub of Aquaphor. It's great for windburn, cuts, scratches, dry patches - you name it!
Cetaphil Cream - it comes it a big round tub. I use it on both of my babies because it is so moisturizing and it doesn't clog pores or cause acne. I use it all over there body and face, especially during the winter:)

I recommend Arbonne's Baby Care face/body lotion and/or body oil. Arbonne's products are free of petroleum, mineral oil, animal products, and many other things that aren't good for us. Plus Arbonne's products are pH correct for the skin so your little girl's protective barrier will not be destroyed. You can get Arbonne only through Independent Consultants. Go to www.arbonne.com to locate one close to you. Have a great day! C.

I second the Aquaphor...my kids dr. recommended it to us. My kids faces gets very chapped, especially around their mouth, this time of year. I often put it on before they go to bed and it makes a big difference by morning.
I would try jojoba oil- it does not clog pores and is a really light oil. You could also put it on before you go out on your walks.
Elephant Pharmacy sells a wonderful line of Skin Care products for babies: Earth's Best Baby Care by Jason. Also, doctors recommend using plain petroleum jelly (Vaseline) with no fragrance on babies with severe dry skin like eczema.
Hi Mama-
The Aveeno Baby lotion, unscented, works great. ALso, the JOhnsons bed time lotion (purple/lavendar bottle) is nice, but is scented. Lastly, you can try the Neutrogena norwegian formula (comes in a hand sized tube) in the unscented. That's my fav, and it works really well. My sister uses the first two on her little one, and his skin doesn't break out from it.
Hope that helps!

When my daughter was little, she had some eczema on her face and the doctor had me use Aquaphor which worked really well. You can purchase it at local drug stores, and I found it at Target.

This exact same thing happened to my baby (just now 11 months). I couldn't believe that was what it was. I made sure it wasn't a reaction to a new baby food but no we're pretty sure it is the windburn. I used a tiny bit of Johnson's baby lotion and it worked. I made sure to rub it in entirely because my baby rubs his face then his eyes. So be sure to rub it in all the way. I also tried to put the stroller cover down as a wind breaker when walking into the wind. Hope that helps.
