Hi, my husband was put on cyclosporin (from having severe eczema and atopic dermatitis) which is a strong med, an immunosuppressant. He took it for a few months then when he stopped it, all his hair fell off. Did anything like this happened to you, if so, did your hair grow back? His new dr. put him on a new immunosuppresant (apparently the new trend in dermatology, the only thing that really helps severe itchiness from eczema is immunosuppresants now) and his hair grew back but now that his on a lower dosage for maintenance, all his hair is falling out once more. He is so depressed about this as one can understand. He's had very very thick hair all his life and now he is losing his hair at a rapid rate again. the first time he lost it, it was gone for 2 yrs and now it grew back but falling out again. My husband is 34 yo and has no history of losing his hair ever in the past except for when he first was prescribed this immunosuppresant. Did this happen to any of you or someone you know? Thanks for your thoughts and replies, mamas.

Hi there
My daughter is 4 and a half and had a heart transplant last year. She takes modified cyclosporine liquid and thinning/loss of head hair is a pretty common side effect. She used to have SUPER thin hair! Over time, though, it gets better. In fact, now her hair grows like crazy!
Hope you guys find some answers!
BTW my other daughter has eczema that's pretty bad and we use Derma-Soothe oil on her. It's a topical steroid oil that the doc prescribed and it's been a God-send for us! Don't know if you have tried it but hey it's an option. You can only use it for limited time spans but it really has helped with my daughter.

Hi BJ,

That's terrible! While I don't have any suggestions on the present hair loss, I do have some thoughts about some possibilites that really might help with the eczema. I have seen people who have 'tried everything' experience major improvements when they switched many of their home products(bath, body, laundry, cleaning) to the ecofriendly manufacturer that I have been shopping with for 7 years. I can tell you a few remarkable stories(including one from a dermatologist who couldn't get rid of her son's eczema and was very concerned about continuing the steroid treatments he was on...she made the switch and he improved..no is longer taking steroids) I certainly can't promise what the outcome would be but as someone who likes to avoid meds if at all possible ...this solution could be a very realy possibility. There's nothing to lose....if I can share more info and be of help, I invite you to get intouch with me. ###-###-####
