Id go see the dentist. Maybe early but then again I've heard of babies being born with teeth!!
My son is 3 years old and he lost a tooth today. I'm kind of worried. I fear he's too young to start losing teeth. Anyone know if this is normal??

Did he get his baby teeth early?
My DD lost her first when she was 4 almost 5.
She turns 6 in Oct. and just lost her SIXTH!
Her baby teeth started coming in at 5 months.
Was it loose?
Did it fall out outta the blue?
If the latter then I would call the dentist.
HTH! :)
The earliest one of my kids lost a tooth was age 5. Everyone is different, but I agree that 3 seems too young. I think a visit to the dentist is in order to make sure something else isn't going on to cause the tooth loss. (For example, my son had one tooth which grew in a little sideways and grew through the roots of another tooth, making it loose and fall out prematurely). Which tooth was it? They can take an X ray to see if the permanent tooth is near coming in. If not, they may explore options of holding that space open until the time that a permanent tooth does come in. Otherwise, the other teeth may crowd out the space that should have been reserved, perhaps resulting in some orthodontia needs later in life.
Is he almost 4 or just turned 3?
Was the tooth damaged previously?
I would take him to the dentist...
You can always make an appointment with a pediatric dentist. His x-rays would have shown it was about ready to come out. If it wasn't supposed to come the doc might have been able to do some kind of treatment to prevent but probably not.
I'd make the appointment if I had concerns.
A regular family dentist is NOT a pediatric dentist. A pediatric dentist is a specialist in baby teeth and the developing adult teeth. A family dentist may be "good with kids" but he is NOT as knowledgeable about the baby teeth as the pediatric dentist.
That seems crazy early. My daughter is a few months past six, and doesn't even have a loose tooth yet. I would definitely take him in to a dentist, just to be safe.
You say he "lost" a tooth...did you see it coming? Was it loose for a long time, like a normal lost tooth, or did it just come out? He may have injured it, in which case, you definitely want to take him to a dentist.
