My son who will be 6 in June was biting a cup. His tooth snapped and now it is loose. I am pretty sure that it must be his first loose tooth as in getting big teeth. Just nervous if it might be an injury. A kid can't knock a tooth loose with biting plastic can he? It is his bottom center tooth.
Kids usually lose their bottom center teeth first and if he's six soon, I would think it's just a natural progression. My son lost his two bottom center teeth at 5 b/c the big teeth just pushed them right out. I'm sure your son is fine.
It is mostly just a normal loose tooth. Most children do start getting loose teeth when they are about 6 (some later and some earlier, depending on when they got first tooth,etc.) and they fall out in about the same order they came in as a baby so bottom front teeth are usually loose first.
Is he in pain? If so he should maybe be seen by his dentist or at least call them about it. I don't think he could damage his teeth with a plastic cup if they are normally strong and healthy. The cup probably lossened it just like biting into an apple and loosening or even losing a tooth. If you are really concerned just call the dentist and see what they say. I'm sure it is probably nothing to worry about.

when my daughter got her first loose tooth i thought it was becuase she was pulling on her sheet that was in her mouth. but acutally it was just time. she got her teeth at 4 mths and started loosing her teeth a few mths before her 5th b-day. she is 5 and has lost both bottom and upper front teeth. call your dentist if you would like to ask questions or set up a visit.

Make sure it is not painful to him. I it is let him see the dentist, but if not it is probally his first loose tooth. The chewing on the cup could have helped with the ache of the tooth just like when he got his first teeth he chewed because the pressure on the gums helps sooth the ache.
My daughter lost her tooth bottom front teeth when she was 6, so it's probably just that the roots are starting to disingrate and therefore the pressure of the cup got it loose. Get him excited about it! First loose tooth!!
My son was 6 years and 4 months when he lost his first tooth. He does not have his 6 year molars yet. The x-ray that was taken at 6 years old showed that the new teeth were already starting to wear off the roots of the baby teeth. They loose the 2 bottom center ones first. If your son got his teeth early, then he will lose his teeth early. My son lost his first tooth almost exactly 5 years after it came in. If you are really worried, take him to a pediatric dentist.
How much has snapped off? If only a chip then I would say it probably is a loose tooth , the snap may have helped it along a little. Luckily it is only a baby tooth. My son also 6 has no loose teeth yet , but his 6 yr molar has come in so loose teeth should follow soon (this is what dentist said would happen). Take a look in your sons mouth right at the very back , if he has a molar then probably is a loose tooth.
Bottom center teeth are the first to go. I'm sure it's ok. My son started loosing teeth at 6 too! Center bottom to go first.
Find a pediatric dentist and have an xray taken to make sure there isn't any permanant damage. I say pediatric dentist because I am keeping my kids going to the one they have had since age 2, we love him and he is a specialist in little kids tooth issues. Yes, it is normal for teeth to be coming out now, most of ours have been out by age 6. But due to the loosness happening at the same time an accident occured I would just want to make sure it hadn't damaged the root or adult tooth.
