Hi! I have a son 6 and a daughter 5. (11 mnths apart) My son usually has a problem when he has a tooth that is coming out. His last tooth I waited until he felt comfortable for me to look and touch it. We usually have a ritual that grandma pulls the tooth. Since she lives about 2 1/2 hours away this gives him more confidence to get it pulled and takes his mind off of what little pain it causes. That tooth was being pushed out by the incoming one, but did not pull it until my mother was there. When it is ready to come out it will be pushed out or your child will probably push it out with his/her tongue. Try to find a creative way of letting him/her pull it. Knowing glitter from the fairy or a gold or silver pouch with coins in it gets them excited about having a tooth pulled . Also the best way to pull it, is definitly the old fashion way, string. Its quick and easy. Hope this helps.
