Looking to Meet Other Moms-to-be

I am due in September with my first baby. I have a few friends who are due around the same time as I am, but was wondering where else I could meet other moms with kids the same age as mine, especially other first time moms. This is a big, exciting, scary process to go through the first time and support would be great.

What can I do next?

I knew no one with small kids when I was pregnant with my first. Plus, I am an "older" mom so my friends with kids were done with the baby stuff.
I signed up for ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) through my local school district. I now have a regular, very strong and close-knit group of 10 moms that we see and do things with 2 or 3 times a week. We have all become good friends, and even do stuff without kids sometimes.
Minnesota is one of the only States with ECFE, so it is great to take advantage of it. You could check with your local or neighboring school districts to see what programs they offer.

Once you have your baby, you may want to look into the ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) program in your area. It is a program the runs only in MN. We have made great parent friends and friends for our son throught this program. We've even started having a monthly Mom's Night Out at local restaurants!
Best of luck with the new baby.
:)
P.S. I'm an elementary teacher too (well was...) :)

Check out the St. Paul Moms Meetup group on www.meetup.com. They're very active and have a large membership. They'll even set up bringing meals to your family a couple times/week when the baby is born! Depending on where you live, there's also a Minneapolis group. Definitely worth checking out.
