maybe if you get a petition of working moms together, you can ask your park district to hold some evening classes to accommodate working parents. you can always get a private swim coach and go to the public pool at night too.
Hi Moms! I'm a full time working mom and it seems like all the activities out there exist during the day which doesn't work for me. Does anyone have any suggestions about fun activities that I can do with my 18 month old son that occur in the late afternoon/early evening or on weekends near the Woodridge/Downers Grove area? I'm thinking along the lines of swimming lessons or mommy and me type programs.
Thanks in advance!
L.
Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions!

It is not too much further, but the Naperville Children's museum is perfect for children, beginning at that age. They have many fun activities for all the ages.
It is inside however. I would try the Morton Arboretum as well, they have a wonderful Childrens garden. He can run and smell the flowers. It is a beautiful place to walk and run and enjoy the outdoors.
The Naperville Park District runs Swim classes in the summer that start at 6 pm at Centennial Beach in downtown Naperville. We just did a parent/child class in June. I'm not sure if they are running more or if they are full but here is the link.www.napervilleparks.org
Otherwise it's half price to go swim there after 5.
You can also do a search and check out Sea Lion Aquatic Park in Lisle, Pelican Harbor in Bolingbrook and there is also one on Janes Ave in Downers Grove....I just can't think of the name.
The DuPage Children's Museum is open late on Thursdays:
We live in the same area and I have the same problem! All the Woodridge park District classes are during the day. We have taken swimming classes at the Downers Grove YMCA in the evening. It is fun, but a little pricey--$60 for 5 classes(30 min each). I will be watching for other responses for new ideas too!

Some of your park district programs may run at night or on the weekend. I know my Plainfield PD offers classes for older toddlers at night...
