C.,
I've been in the seatbelt/airbag business for 30 years, it's not advisable to purchase a used car seat, as items have been found in the belt retractor, causing malfunctions if there is an accident. My advice is to purchase a new seat.
I am looking for a used carseat for my 35 lb. toddler. Does anyone have one laying around? I am willing to pay your fee. Any feedback is greatly appreciated! =)

Call your local police department. I received seats (brand new ones) from my local police department for free. I did get them at a car seat check but I was also told when my triplets grew out of those to bring come back and they would have booster seats for me.
My sister has one that she is not using. It's a 5 point Graco....I think. I'll ask her and get back to you. I work in the Dearborn area, so it should be easy to meet up.
There is a store in Allen Park called Too Good To Be Used or look up some of the Mom2Mom Sales and go look at some of them. The web site is something like Mom2MomSale - List. It will list all Mom Sales for this area. Hope that helps...
