some micheals stores sell thomas accessories and you can use a half off coupon in sundays paper. we did that all the time.
I am in the same situation like you. My son loves trains too and I know how expensive is to get the accesories.
We got all of ours from ebay. Sometimes you can find deals like 20-30 pieces for $5.
If you need help with it let me know. We are checking constantly ebay.
IKEA has tracks, trains, and some accessories that are VERY cheap.
you might try mom to mom sales. You can find them online at mom2mom.com.

I signed up for the daily deal on Toysrus.com and got a bunch of stuff for Christmas last year at 50% off original price (sometimes the email came in the afternoon and you had to go that day to get the deal)... I found that the "off brand" is just as good as the "Thomas" brand. Good luck... my son is almost 5 and he still plays daily, so don't feel bad about spending a little money on these toys, they will last and be worth the money you spend.
Where r u located? My son has a train table and pretty much has outgrown all of it. I live in Algonac. I have the Thomas gray tracks, the blue tracks and the metal trains. I don't want to get rid of the wooden tracks yet because I feel I should sell it with the train table. Let me know.
