Looking for Surgeon Recommendations for a Breast Reduction

I am seriously considering having a breast reduction and may be able to get insurance coverage for it. My ladies are heavy enough that I have indentions in my shoulders from my bras...even the wide straps. I'm not overly huge (DD), but for my body frame, I am big. Not to mention the time and gravity have not been my friends and I am just becoming more and more self conscious. Does anyone have experience with this? Would you do it again or do you regret it? Can you recommend a good surgeon? Can you give me an estimate of the cost in case insurance won't cover it (I'm guessing $6000-7000 range)? I'm looking for personal experiences. I know a lot of people who have implants, but don't know anyone who has had a reduction.

What can I do next?

I had my reduction 5 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did! Recovery was not that long, scarring was minimal and the satisfaction with the surgery lifelong! I wish I had done it years ago. One piece of advice no matter what your surgeon says, buy "Merderma" scar reducing cream, massage into the scars at least 3 times a day and the benefits are increedible. Good luck and you will not regret it.

By the way I would recommend my surgeon but he was in NY.

I had it done 6 months ago - insurance approved - and I wasn't that big of a reduction.

The recovery from surgery is short - but the full healing does take time.

I would do it again, but I would be better informed. Here is an excellent website for you.

I share your problem. I have been working with dr angobaldo in Plano and he is amazing. I have a clinically professional relationship with him so I chose him but have yet to have my surgery. First my insurance denied the procedure, so I was saving up the money when my job changed insurance, then the new insurance approved the procedure but with stipulations so when I went back to him I had lost weight and went from a ddd to a dd and the if he had removed all insurance wanted I would have nothing left in his opinion. So we appealed to the insurance once again and now we are waiting to hear back. For me this process has been going on for almost a year now but I'm in no rush because as I'm losing weight they are not getting smaller now just 'lower' :)
to answer your questions, I have not had the procedure but am looking forward to it despite all the ppl telling me horror stories of the scars they now have and how they got fat so they came back. U should do what u feel is best. I love dr a bedside manner, honesty and work ethic so I chose him. I cannot give u a price because I have a professional discount from him but be prepared to pay the surgeon, the hospital or surgical center and anesthesiologist. Good luck and keep me updated on your progress, please.
