There's a camp in Plano called Summer Under the Umbrella, but the kids might be too much for an Aspie. Brookhaven College
The Arts Academy at Brookhaven College has new “Piano Fun!” courses for tykes ages 4 and 5, plus 6 and 7, starting in early June, as well as level-two courses for youngsters who are continuing in “Piano Fun!” This new course is designed specifically for a child and an adult to attend class together in BHC’s state-of-the-art keyboard lab. Cedar Valley College
Cedar Valley College is offering kids several great reasons to get off the couch this summer and get into the classroom — whether it’s a stage, a kitchen or a computer lab! A full schedule of innovative classes will focus young minds on learning and having fun at the same time. Courses, which are scheduled in July, include:
· “Computer Gaming Graphics” for fifth- through eighth-grade students · “Young Chefs: Cooking and Nutrition” for third- through eighth-grade students · “Science/Biology” for fifth- through eighth-grade students · “Drama Camp” for third- through eighth-grade participants · “Write It and Read It!” for children in grades three through eight

Eastfield College
Eastfield College summer classes and camps will educate and entertain youngsters from age six months (swimming only!) and up. Courses include:
· a one-week piano camp for all levels (June 18-23)

Mountain View College
Mountain View College can help students get on track and stay on track for the regular school year with summer classes in: mathematics, reading and writing/spelling. Courses are $38 and are offered from mid-to-late June and from late July through early August at various times during the day, Monday through Thursday. El Centro College
High school students from across Dallas County already are signed up to participate in a number of specialized programs at El Centro College that represent partnerships with K-12, DCCCD, other higher education institutions and area corporations. With Title V grant funding, ECC offers “Summer Bridge” programs specifically for high school students who are eligible to enroll. These programs include:
· ExxonMobil Academy — Students who enroll in the ExxonMobil Academy this year are required to submit their high school transcripts and to take a pre- and post-assessment test using Accuplacer. Participants will take field trips which again will be “green themed,” or related to environmental issues. (The college also will compare TAKS assessment results to Accuplacer results and then encourage students who pass Accuplacer to consider enrolling in dual credit classes next year.) · eXtreme Techno Camp — In its second year, eXtreme Techno Camp received rave reviews from previous participants. Developed and taught by the ECC information technology systems faculty, the camp offers credit IT classes in June to two groups of 15 students. Topics include voice-over IP, networking, gaming, blogging, Web design/application and home integration. · TexPREP — The Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program returns this summer and will offer Years I and II coursework. TexPREP is a mathematics-based program that focuses on careers in mathematics, science and engineering; Richland College also will offer TexPREP this summer. At ECC, the Year I program will accommodate up to 30 young men and women in grades seven through 10; 16 girls from last year’s program will return for Year II. · Health Career Pathways — Learning more about ECC’s health occupations programs is the focus of Health Career Pathways; up to 40 students in grades nine and 11 will participate. Ninth graders will join the program during the first week in June; 11th graders will visit during the week of June 18 and tour various locations in the Dallas area to learn more about health occupations. Students also will be given a career assessment tool to help them solidify their career plans. · Sight and Sound Program — ECC is partnering with Preservation Link, a nonprofit corporation, to offer the Sight and Sound Program for the first time this summer. The program is a community documentary initiative that uses a multimedia curriculum and partnerships with neighborhood organizations and media professionals to train young people and teach them how to explore, document and archive the thoughts and experiences of South Dallas residents. The students, ages 15 to 19, will receive four hours of college credit for the program, and completers will be offered internships this fall at local media companies. · Teacher Education Pathway — Up to 20 area high school students will participate in a two-week program that highlights careers in teaching; they will obtain classroom observation experience at the J. Erik Jonsson Community School’s Institute for Excellence in Urban Education. Guest lecturers will provide classroom activities to demonstrate teaching to various age groups and curricula. El Centro College Tentative DatesEl Centro is offering three summer camps: · Health Career Connection Camp, for students entering 10th or 11th gradeJune 6-June 20 or July 7-July 21This camp is designed to introduce students to careers in the growing health care field. · Texas Prefreshman Engineering, for girls in 8th through 10th gradesJune 6-July 30Girls can receive one elective high school credit and learn about careers in math, science and engineering. · eXtreme Techno Camp, for students entering 11th and 12th gradesJune 6-June 28Students will build their own Web blog, make a music video and more as they learn about technology careers.

Our activities include Archery, Target Shooting, Kayaking, Swimming, Fishing, Geocaching, Orienteering, Nature Walks, Arts & Craft Projects and more.

I am a mom of a 12 year old and one on the way. We started our camps back in 2004 and they have growm by leaps and bounds. We limit the camps to 40 per week - 12 separate weeks this summer - so we get to know the campers and they get to know us and the other campers.

We have had kids with ADD/ADHD, Autism, werem deaf and someone from France who didn't speak English. We try our best to accomodate those with special needs as much as possible.

We have used the Camp Kidscope (ages 9-12) for years now for our 12 year old. It is through Carrollton Leisure Services and it is inexpensive and they are busy most of the day, there is swimming a couple of days a week, and lots of field trips. It is held at a couple of different schools in the gym. We now have a 6 year old that will be starting the Camp SummerScapes (ages 6 -8). You can call 972/466-8908 or 972/466-9809. Hello!! Have you heard of www.mathtutordallas.com? They are located in Carrollton near Old Denton and Frankford near IH-35. I am really fortunate for having sent them to Charanya's Math Tutoring. Mr. Charanya has a lot of expereince, patience and great short-cuts and tips. They teach students from Pre-K - University level. They have a summer program and other programs all year-round. Hope that I was of some help to you. I tell you my kids have been going to Charanya for atleast 4 years now and I don't think I'll be trying anyone else for them. The results have been just unbelievably good and their base is much stronger than when they were going to other private tutors.
