I am looking for a moms group that I can attend with my 2 year old or by myself. I would love any and all suggestions for current groups or groups just getting started.

What can I do next?

There is a Rkfd Mom's group...I have a daycare and 3 of my moms belong to it. I do not have contact info, but I would suggest contacting foster care (one of my moms works there and does a lot for the Mom's group) or even YWCA for more info. If you still are having trouble getting contact info, please let me know and I will get it for you from one of my moms. It sounds like they do a lot of fun stuf (my kids are older, so I am not a member.)

I met a woman at Babies R Us a few months back and we got to talking and she invited me to a mom's group (I think she said that it used to meet at the hospital so maybe it was the same as the one below). Unfortunately, though we tried to call each other a couple times and get there, I never was able to go.

However, when I was at the library I saw a flyer for a Rockford Mom's group. I e-mailed them. I can't find my e-mail response but this is the address I contacted. ____@____.com I can't remember all the details of the kids ages and stuff but it was for sahms and there was a fee to join (maybe $20) but she also said that no one would be turned away for not being able to pay.

I would love to get out but I have a hard time getting it all coordinated between half-day pre-school schedules and all. We try to regularly go to books and buddies at the library and I just finished a session of the mom to mom group at Heartland. I know they are doing a workshop on May 2 called SummerDaze that I am going to go to. Here is a link to their website. http://www.heartland.cc/index.php/rockford I think you get to pick 2 workshops out of the 4. I can't remember all the descriptions. I know one was about free and low-cost area activities/vacations and at another you got to make a little scrapbook. I went to their winterdaze one and I liked it.

There's a national one in Rockford but i don't remember the name. I'd say Google Rockford moms groups but i know you have to pay dues. Then there's MOPS moms of preschoolers which i think is a different one. I got involved in a moms group through the health department that met at St. Anthony's but it's for kids under 1. The moms i started with still meet though. We meet every Friday now that it's warm at parks. If your interested in coming some time just let me know. Our kids are 3-4 years and a couple 1 and under so not sure if that matters to you. The library's a good place to meet moms like the previous mom said. In the summer they do imagination station at Sinnissippi park for kids were maybe you can meet someone. Also Rockford school has programs for kids i think through 5 for free. I remember they use to meet at the Discovery center so you could try calling the Discovery Center or the school district. Good luck!

I do not know of any, BUT when I was on maternity leave I used to go to the bookstores/library for their story times (each has a different day of the week and it is free), there were a lot of moms that went to those and would be a good way to see if there is something.
