Hey mamas,
I'm moving to the Oak Park area in July and my plan is to keep my nanny but to also get my soon to be 20mth old into a learning center or daycare/playgroup a couple hours a day or a couple days/week. I will be having my second baby in August and I was going to just look for daycare full time, but I am used to a nanny especially for very young babies. SO i want to keep her but also socialize my son. I know there are many classes- but my nanny will be busy with my newborn- so i was hoping there was a learning center with kids his age that he would benefit from learning and playing. thanks!

What can I do next?

My kids go to Forest Park Montessori on Lathrop and have had a good experience. They have a class for 15-24 months old and also a 2-3 year old class. The two best things about the center, in my opinion, are the large playground coupled with a early learning using the Montessori method. The teachers are okay, but nothing outstanding. Overall, it's a safe, happy environment. This is not the absolute best in the area, but adequate in every way and affordable. Might be a good option until your son is old enough for a more formidable pre-school.

I use to nanny in Oak Park for a 3 year old and a 7 month old. There is a great "mommy", mostly nannies!!, and me gymnastics class through the oak park park district. There is an awesome foam pit all the kids jump into at the end of each class. All the kids loved it!!! Plus it is great because they allow babies as well. So we all could have a good time!!!

I have heard about a resource called Parenthesis that many of my friends are fond of. Good luck with the transition!
