I will be going back to work (hopefully part-time) in August and need to find childcare for my son. He will be nearly 6 months old at that time. Does anybody know of, or take their children to, an in-home childcare or childcare center that they recommend? I am looking primarily in the Sherwood and Tualatin area.

Have you ever considered hosting an au pair for your childcare needs?

All Au Pairs:

are between 18-26 years old
have completed at least high school education
have international drivers licenses
have childcare experience
have LEGAL J-1 VISAS - valid for 1 year with the possibility of
extending for up to a full second year!
LOVE CHILDREN

All Au Pairs can:

work up to 45 hours per week
perform light housekeeping duties
speak and read English
prepare light and easy meals
LOVE YOUR CHILDREN

We are a government regulated agency and have many great au pair
candidates ready, willing and able to come be a part of your family.
This is a wonderful cultural exchange experience for the au pairs and
host families and an affordable, flexible live-in childcare option.
The average cost to host an au pair is only $320 per week, regardless
of the number of children you have!

E-mail me for more details and information about the Au Pair Program.
Apply now at no obligation unless we find you a match

You could try contacting the Community Action Resource and Referal. They will give you a list of day cares that you can visit and decide for yourself. They also have lists of questions you should ask and what to look for.

Hi B.,

Word of mouth is your best bet. Ask your friends, maybe there is a mother of a child in your school that does day care? Who do other teachers use?

I have worked with children for 25 years and I can tell you that the times I had to go to state required seminars, I would look around the room and not find one other person that I would have left my precious child with. So....be careful, careful, careful!

Remember, if your child cries every time you drop him off, there is a reason, so when in doubt, don't leave him. Always go with your gut feeling.

I'm not trying to frighten you, but to educate you. You want someone to love your little one almost as much as you do. Good luck!
