Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good Preschool in the St. Clair Shores/ Grosse Pointe area for a 3 year old that teaches them a little bit. The ones my husband and I have found and toured are play based only. I like the idea of playing but a little learning would be nice also.

Thanks,
D.

HI, I am a mom of 3 daughters, 8, soon to be 5, and soon to be 3. My middle duaghter is going to the Warren Con. School Career Prep Preschool at 15 Mi. and Maple Lan. (Btw Schoenherr and Dodge Park. It is a learning preschool for both the preschooler and their personal high school student(s) who is learning about being a teacher. Cost is 500 for the entire year. They attend 3 days a week for 2 hrs each day. They are currently putting my daughter in a grouping with other kindergarten bound students to make sure they are prepared for next year. We love it and several other preschoolers from our church also attend. Hours are 7:50-9:50 and 11:50-1:50. Hope this helps.

Jack & Jill Nursery School. They have fun and they learn. The teacher is great (Ms. Fran). It is located on 13 mile in Roseville. It used to be located in St. Clair Shores. They offer Am & Pm sessions. My son has learned so much there since he started in the fall. Plus he has peanut allergies and I was nervous about sending him to school, but the teacher is very careful about what comes in to the classroom. She aso likes to get them outside o play as long as it is not too cold.

D.,
My daughter goes to Macomb Christian School in Warren. She started at 2 1/2 and is now almost 4. It's the best preschool we've found. She has blossomed since starting there and they teach and prep for Kindergarten. If you want more info, please email me at ____@____.com.

We live in your area and our son goes to Neighborhood Club Nursery School by the village in Grosse Pointe. We love it there. He was in with the 3 & 4 yr. olds this year and they have themes each week and day of what they will learn. Most preschools are play-based, he gets the first hour to play, then they do the circle times, show and tell, and crafts, etc. He has learned how to write his name and identify letters in just a few short months. We love the teachers and the way the whole program is run. They do have a website, but it would be best to stop by and check it out. They would let you even bring your daughter in to play for a little while so you could get a good look. Good Luck!

have you tried St. Joan of Arc? I hear that it is great. And really, I'd invite you to rethink the need for your child to be "taught" something at this young age. Experiential play is the best way for a child to learn. She has plenty of time for formal lessons in school. My son is 3 and 1/2 and he learns so much from every day playing and experiences, especially outside and in open ended activities with other children. best wishes.
