I'm looking for a recommendation for a pediatrician in the Pasadena area, one who is good with kids, responds to questions, is ok with children who are vegetarian, and has friendly support staff.
Mark Powell at Rose City Pediatrics in Pasadena is great. He's easy to talk to, he listens, and my twins love him. I like the other doctors there also--Dr. Gokey, Dr. Wang and Dr. Schlundt. They also have a phone nurse you can leave messages for if you have questions and don't urgently need to speak to the doctor. They always call back pretty quickly.

He is great with the kids and is thorough with your questions and concerns. He advises according to the AAP, however, is open and supportive to the decision that the parent makes - he doesn't overstep his boundaries so to speak. He takes parents of children that are vegetarian, have chosen not to vaccinate and so forth. He has a very small practice, it is only himself and his 2 receptionists - no nurse practitioners or other doctors. If you call him after hours, you directly page him and he will call you back no matter what time of day!

Although he's not our Doctor, I have many friends who go to Paul Fleiss. He is a pro breast feeding attachment parenting kind of guy. I imagine he'd support being a vegitarian as he's into healthy living.I'm not sure if he's taking new patients, but may have other like minded docs in his office or be able to refer you. I think he's in Pasadena, but as I'm writing wonder if he's in Los Feliz....good luck

Dr. Feileiss is on Hillhurst in LA. We have been going to him for about 7 years. I like everyone in his office. He is pro attachment parenting and I supportive of a vegetarian lifestyle. He's worth the drive.

I have been taking my daughter to Dr. Cindy Collo (Children's Clinic) since she was born. She is fantastic with my daughter. Dr. Collo is gentle, kind, reassuring and never makes you feel dumb for asking questions. When my daughter experienced intestinal issues at 8 months old, Dr. Collo was a true advocate and got her an appointment with a specialist at Children's hospital ASAP and did her best to help my husband and me. Normally there is a wait list. My daughter really likes and respects Dr. Collo. She was also a huge help in getting our daughter to stop using her pacifier...in 1 day! Dr. Collo's associate is also very good. The nursing staff is ok, there are some nurses I like better than others, and the front office staff is kind of "moody" but efficient. Regardless of this, I highly recommend Dr. Cindy Collo. Many of our friends take their children there and have similar rave reviews. Dr. Collo's office is located in Pasadena on Sierra Madre Blvd. near San Pasqual.
I love our pediatrician. His name is Hemant Upadhyaya in South Pasadena. He takes his time and is great answering questions. His office staff is always available for phone questions too. I am not vegetarian, but I think he is the type of doctor who is supportive of any healthy practice.
