Hi I live in the Hyde Park area of Chicago. We're expecting a little boy in November. I'm a member of Blue Cross HMO, which means I can't use any docs at U of C which is mere blocks from my house. I don't want to be driving a (sick) infant all over town to see a pediatrician. Anyone have a good doc at Rush or Mercy? I'd consider someone in Lincoln Park, but that's slightly further away.
I saw Dr. Verghese @ Rush where my son was born and she was fantastic. I now regularly see Dr. Nava Segall who is affiliated with Rush, but her office is in Lincoln Park/Lakeview. She is wonderful as well. Good luck.

My acupunturist works out of Mercy 2 days a week (through the Whole Women Whole Health program) and might be able to recommend someone there.
Also, she is supporting me through my pregnancy with twins right now and is amazing - has helped me keep my bp and sugars at good levels, with general pregnancy health, and she has a great record of turning breach babies (hopefully I won't need that!) I just had a beautiful baby girl July 2nd. I have insurance through BCBS but PPO. I recommend Dr. Verghese from Rush. She's excellent!!! She's available only at Rush on Thursdays ###-###-####). Her other office is in Westchester ###-###-####). Give her a call to schedule a Thursday visit. I promise you won't be disappointed...very nice, patient, and knowledgeable.

I highly recommend Dr. Billie Wright Adams who is on staff at Mercy Hospital where she practices and teaches. She is with "Pediatric Associates" located right off the corner of 75th Jeffrey. She can be reached at ###-###-####. This is very close to Hyde Park and very accessible for you. Dr. Adams was the pediatrician for me and all my girlfriends. We loved her for her knowledge, support and warm caring spirit. Each visit you and your baby/child will have will be complete and thorough.

I loved my kids pediatrician at Rush Lifetime Medical Associates. His name is Dr Pripstein. The office is very accomodating. It is easy to get an appointment and very easy to get in for urgent care. The nurses are nice and get to know you by name. If you call them with a question, they are very good at getting back to you in a timely manner. I highly recommend this office. Their phone number is ###-###-####. This office is not in the main hospital, so parking is not an issue.
