Hi. We are looking at possibly purchasing a 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T. It will be used primarily for my husband to drive back and forth to work, but still needs to be a comfortable for our family of four to travel in. Does anyone have experience with these vehicles? They good for long trips? Has anyone ever fit two booster seats and a child seat in the back?? He refuses to drive a normal sedan. So I'm looking for any moms that drive one or have had experience with the Dodge Magnums. Would like to hear any mechanical problems too....

Thank you!!

We had a 2005 magnum until it got totaled in December (the other person's fault) I loved it. It has tons of room, for passengers and truck. We put 2 rear facing seats and 1 booster in the back seat. I was able to put my double stroller, pack n play and still have room for more stuff. DH liked but he wanted to be higher off the ground. We also have a minivan which is what now considered my car so the crossover we purchased in the magnum's place after the accident was his choice. the good news about the accident is that we hit almost head on since they were turning left into my path of travel at 35MPH, the car was totaled and the only thing wrong with me was my hand hurt cause it was on the horn when the air bag deployed. Up until the accident we had no issues with it mechanically.

I think it's a good choice. Good luck!

We used to have one and I loved it. It was my husbands work vehicle, but we used it for family trips too. We have a Dodge Charger now and I don't like it quite as well. If we could go back to the Magnum I would in a heart beat.

Hi S.,
I don't own one but my inlaws do. I've driven it a few time and my only comment is that the visibility is terrible in it. I really didn't like it.

I have the same vehicle - 2005 Dodge Magnum R/T and I LOVE it!!! We purchased ours used - which there were some problems because the person who owned it before us did not take care of it mechanically. That being said, I would not trade that car for anything. This is my daily driver and I love to drive it! Ours is basically fully loaded (navigation system, moonroof, power everything, 6-disc changer, etc). We have had some minor electrical issues, which I think is due to a remote starter being improperly installed - the back driver-side window won't go down, moonroof will open back up if you are putting up the windows at the same time. We will be getting these issues fixed at a later date sue to child #2 being due next month and I am laid-off. The rear shoes (brakes) were bad, but again, we and our mechanic think it is from lack of maintenance.

All that being said, my husband and I LOVE the ride - very smooth and comfortable. Great storage in back, but it is less than the Chrysler Pacifica we had previously due to the "chopped" roof line. I also love, love, love my navigation system! It can fit 2 booster seats in back, but I don't know if it can fit those along with a child seat. See if you can find one in the area that is for sale and bring the 3 seats with to test out. It also geats pretty good gas mileage too - surprising for a HEMI, but the design of the car helps the aerodynamics as well as the ability for the engine to switch to only 4 or 6 cylinders while driving on the highway and then kick the extra cylinders in when needed for passing...or just to go fast! It is a FAST car, which I absolutely love. I can't say enough about it. My husband is trying to talk me into getting a new car because of the little problems we have had with it - he is worried something BIG will happen, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Also, when looking for one, see if you can find one that has only had 1 owner - for $150 you can transfer for 7 year 70,000 powertrain warranty! We needed a gasket replaced shortly after we bought ours and only had to pay the deductible!

I have a 2007 and love it. We have a booster seat, front facing seat, and infant seat in the back seat and they are snug, but everyone fits! Plenty of room for strollers and whatever else you need to bring with for trips. The ride is very comfortable. Hope you enjoy it!

I have an '05 Magnum and really love it. The AC crapped out, but luckily we bought the 'maxi-warranty' or whatever Dodge calls it, so the whole thing was covered. It took a bit of getting used to, with the chop-top and the overall length of the vehicle, but now I'm pretty fond of it. There's plenty of room, with a good sized trunk. It rides low, so it's not as bad in the winter as you'd think, just watch out if you're on dirt roads so you don't bottom out. Overall, I'm very happy with the vehicle. We just took a 7 hr. drive (each way) in the car and it was comfy. Then again, we only had 1 carseat in the back, but it's one of those giant Britax ones, and when we have our 13 yr old, she fits next to it just fine. As long as you don't have two of the monstrous carseats, you should do just fine.
