Looking for OB in Frisco/Denton Area Who Will Do Testing After One Miscarriage

i am looking for a concerned, open minded OB GYN in the Frisco/Denton area. After going thru a miscarriage at 10 weeks, I asked my OB about doing some basic genetic and hormonal testing before trying to get pregnant again. She, like a lot of OBs, refused any testing until I've had 3 miscarriages.. We would like to get pregnant again, but want to do the testing beforehand. If you've ever gone thru a miscarriage, you know why I don't want to go thru this another 2 times- if its preventable. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!!!!

What can I do next?

Luckily, we have not had a problem with this, but during the course of my infertility treatment, I did meet somebody else with this problem. She was seeing Dr. Jerald Goldstein at Baylor Frisco and had testing. She told me that he mentioned the issurance thing, but said that if it just gave her piece of mind then it was worth doing. Apparently everything was okay because she is now pregnant and past the time with her prior miscarriage

My OB is pretty cool and will do anything I tell her to do, but she's an exception I'm sure. I'd go to an infertility doc, they certainly don't mind doing all the testing. Miscarriages aren't necessarily preventable, but low progesterone is a big, big, cause, so progesterone supplementation is never a bad idea. I've had 2 miscarriages myself and I'm sorry for your loss. Best of luck.

I love Dr. Christina Dooley in Denton. She was more than happy to do a VBAC for me, which most doctors won't even consider. I think she's very open minded and not set in her ways. I would certainly give her office a call. She's worth it. Good luck and so sorry for your loss.

My dr also said they didnt test until after the third. After my 2nd I insisted, and collected the tissue and brought it in and handed the container to her. she really had no choice at that point, what are they going to do?! Just keep pushing them. No reason for them not to. Beware your insurance might not pay for it though.

I don't know of a doctor in your area, but I just wanted to say that I hate that attitude! Do they make men have three "oops!" babies before they'll do a vasectomy? I don't believe doctors appreciate the mental and physical devastation of a miscarriage, to insist that we endure three before they'll test for simple things like blood clotting issues or low progesterone, etc.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I see Dr. Heather Sloan at Craig Ranch OBGYN on 121 and Custer.. not too far from Frisco at all.

I haven't had a miscarriage.. but when I had bleeding with my last pregnancy.. the OB nurse there tested my progesterone which was extremely low. I was put on supplements and everything was fine. After I found out I had low progesterone I read about it online and there were MANY women who lost their children due to this.. and weren't tested until after several miscarriages. You could either try progesterone on your own.. I think you can buy it at vitamin stores, etc. It is the organic cream I think.. or if you go to a Dr. that will prescribe it, you get suppositories or injections. I am so sorry you are going through this! Good luck!

Try Dr. Rick Gupta in Lewisville. He is a really great, pro-active dr. Not making any promises about looking further after only one m/c, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I have had 2 ectopics and a m/c as well as 2 live births. I know how painful it can be, but since many people have one m/c and go on to have lots of healthy babies, most drs aren't going to do any looking unfortunately. Good luck!
