I had Dr. Bettina Zattuchni...she is great.
Loved her. here's her website: http://www.pleasantonobgyn.com/
i am not sure if she takes HMO though but you can call and ask. Goodluck!
After two miscarriages and three years of trying to get pregnant, I was diagnosed with Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome, and through the use of blood thinning shots I was able to get pregnant again and give birth to a beautiful baby girl last April. My husband and I are talking about trying for another baby but I would like to find a new OB before I get pregnant again. By the end of my last pregnancy I was really frustrated with my old doctor (Dr. Leach in Walnut Creek) and tired of driving up to Walnut Creek 2-3 times a week for the additional appointments I had to do at the end of the pregnancy. I live in Dublin and work in Pleasanton and I would like to find a doctor who delivers at Valley Care. Does anyone have any experience with APS or with a OB that they really like in my area? My medical insurance is an HMO so some doctors don't take that (I've been told Dr.s Newman and Olivera are great, but they don't take HMO's). Thanks for your help!

I always used Dr. Phillips, who is in the same group as Olivera and Newman, I think. I thought he took HMO. He is really mellow and relaxed about everything, that I didn't always like when going to appointments. But, when I was in labor and had a baby coming out breach he was that same mellow and relaxed and explained what my options were and what the problems could be and I delivered the baby breach and everything was perfect. I remember the nurses telling me that most doctors would have just done a c-cection and not given me the option. I really remember the nurses being so shocked that I had the choice and it all worked out great. I would never have another OB after that and actually induced my 3rd (well really just had the water broken) so I could deliver with him being the doctor before he went on vacation, just in case there were any problems.
I met both Newman and Olivera and I liked them but only met them both once, but I hope that maybe Phillips takes HMO, I know he has kindof a separate practice from them but in the same office now.
Hi N.,
I totally feel for you. I have had 3 miscarriages over the last 3 years since my daughter was born. My last one I was in my 2nd trimester and had 2 surgeries in one week due to an incompetant doctor. I have been referred to a woman in Oakland named Dr. Asahn. I hear she is very good. If I may ask, how did they finally diagnose you with APS? Is that determined through a blood test? I have had everyone tell me I am fine and have had bad luck...but I don't believe them. It's been very frustrating. I wish you much luck. - S.
I also recommend Dr Phillips in Pleasanton - I have a Blue Shield HMO, the important thing to know is that you have to be in the right medical group - I'm in Bay Valley. I don't know about the APS part, but I did have problems getting pregnant (thyroid related - he was the 1st dr to diagnose the problem), have several miscarriages, tried hormones, but finally managed to get pregnant and now have 2 boys aged 7 & 5. I have been seeing Dr Phillips for 15+ years and really like him
Well I have no idea if my OB has experience with APS but she was absolutely wonderful with me and my son. Awesome woman and took great care of me and my son. I delivered him at Valley Care a year ago. her name is Dr. Santana and I believe she is just getting back to work as she just had her first child in february. i would recommend her hands done and my pediatrician is just across the hall in the same building Dr. Lionel Herrera. Hope this helps.
