I just found out I'm pregnant and am looking for a good OB GYN. I live in Coburg but work in Albany. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

I would highly recommend the Midwifery Birth Center in Eugene (just a block from Sacred Heart)!!! They provide such a wonderful pregnancy and birth experience with great lactation support after the baby is born. I know it's not an OB recommendation, but a really great option to consider... check them out at peacehealth.org. We ended up with pre-eclampsia at 39 weeks and had an emergency c-section, but the midwife was in the operating room for support and they kept tabs on us in the hospital and afterwards at home. They also have an awesome free well-baby clinic once a week to help out with breastfeeding. Really nice, helpful people! Congrats!

Hi M., this is probably not in the area you are loooking but I love my my Ob Julie Haugen who is located in downtown Eugene. I am pregnant right now and she also delivered my son. She is great and all of the staff there is amazing!!! I would have more babies just to go back there, they are like family now.

Hi, M.~

Depends on if you prefer male or female, lol. This is probably out of your way, but Dr. Paul Qualtere-Burcher with Peacehealth in downtown Eugene is great. He's very knowledgable, but very interested in whatever you need to say also. I had preeclampsia during my pregnancy, and he was with me all the way. He gave me a big hug after we delivered my daughter emergency c-section, and made me feel so relieved through the whole process. His number is ###-###-####. Hope this helps!

Something to keep in mind is where you want to deliver. Since your OB may or may not be the one to actually deliver your child, there are other things to consider when making this decision. I had my son at McKenzie Willamette and we were there 4 days because I had a c-section. The nurses there were wonderful and there were only a few babies delivered there at the time so we got a LOT of personalized attention from the staff.

Not a lot of doctors deliver at MW anymore so they don't have patients delivering at both hospitals at the same time.

There are lots of great doctors in our area and you can do meet the doctor appointments to find someone you are comfortable with.
