Of the 2 I would definitely go with Dr Burton. I used him for my 3 year old, however, have decided to switch to Dr Eley here in McKinney, she is a lot more pro active, which was exactly what I was looking for. Haven't heard a lot of good things about Kessinger. Let me know if you have any questions

I have 2 neighbors who go/went to Dr. Burton's office. One loves the office. The other left the practice because she was always seeing a nurse practitioner instead of a dr, and her waits were consistently an hour. I just wanted to give you the feedback I had heard. If those things don't matter to you, I think it's a great practice.

Hi K., I can't speak for Kessinger b/c we go to Burton. I really like everyone there. I have seen his partner Dr. Hooker and Holly one of their nurses. I appreciate that they don't really push any one way of doing things on you, they give you guidelines and advice but I have never been made to feel I am doing something wrong or detrimental. For me a first time mom, 10mo boy, it's nice to know I can follow my instinct and they support it. Anyway, I have had to call the nurses line on the weekends and the person that helped me was so sweet and knowledgeable. I haven't had any problems with make last minute appts or anything like that so I am happy. I like both doctors very well so I have seen them both, based on who had an open appt when I could come. They have a meet the doctors night each month, I went before I had my baby, think it helps to see them and ask questions before making your final pick. Any other questions I would be happy to help. Good luck, NAngela

I have used Dr. Burton for 3 years now. He has been great. I also really like is PA Holly. I never have any trouble getting in with a sick child last minute. I'm not a fan of Dr. Hooker in Burton's office, but I just request Burton or Holly and have no problems.

My friend has used Dr. Kessinger for her twins and I have heard great things about him as well. I actually contemplated moving to his office after talking to a group of moms all raving about him and the other doctors in his office. He can be a bit conservative though. My friend had premie twins. For the first 8 months of their lives he had them living basically as shut-ins.

Bottom line is you're good with which ever decision you make. Meet both doctors and see which one you feel more comfortable with.

I live in McKinney and I go to Dr. Cook just behind Presbyterian of Allen. He's not in McKinney, but the office is very convenient because it's literally visible from Hwy 75. And we really like him. I think I put his info. on Mamasource already, but I have a really hard time putting referrals in (for some reason it takes FOREVER when I try). If I haven't, feel free to e-mail me for his info.

I have not heard many good things about Todd Burton. I don't know anything about Kessinger, but personally, I've stayed away from Burton.

We just switched our child to Burton---I haven't met anyone who has not liked his office and staff. He does a parent night to "meet the doctors" and it was great. He does say they don't do Saturday appointments, but M-F if you call they WILL get you in. My neighbor has used them since her lil' girl was born (she is almost 2 now) and she went in at 2 for an appointment, the doctor found a problem with the baby, and stayed with her until he found a hospital for her---it ended up being 8 PM before he left. We haven't had our first visit yet, but I feel very comfortable already. The same neighbor had me watch her lil' one and I called her to tell her she was running a fever--it was 3 PM and the mom was able to call the doctor and be seen that day. They do refer you to Acute Care (I think that is what it is called) for weekend/late night visits.

I hope this helps some. I don't know about Kessinger---I only tried Dogoploski---she did not impress me so we are trying Burton now.

Good luck,
K.

I took my son to see him a month ago for the first time for a check up and wasnt informed that that involved a hearing test which my insurance didn't cover.I didnt appreciate the 95$ bill that went along with my 30 Co-pay and would have liked to have been informed of it prior to having a bill sent out to surprise me. Other than that they seemed nice and friendly at the office.

The only thing I can tell you about Dr. Burton is that I took my son there for 2 years and only saw Dr. Burton once in all that time. So if you are considering All About Children because you would be seeing Dr. Burton, then you may want to consider the other place. There were a couple other things that rubbed me the wrong way but I tell you about that only if you are interested in hearing about it.
Good luck!
Kim

I am a mom of almost 11 month old little boy. I am also a Pediatric ICU nurse...I take my son to Dr. Burton and love him, and his office. Sometimes he is hard to get in to if you're last minute, but that's the other thing I like.....Dr. Hooker is his partner and I absolutely love her too! They are both excellent doctors and I highly recommend them. I have also seen both nurse practitioners ther and love them as well. Hope this helps. I don't know much about Dr. Kessinger so I can't help you there.
