David's Bridal should have something. I also got a great dress that I wore to my husband's HS reunion and later to a wedding at Belly Dance in Chicago (on Damen, just south of North Ave.):

Hi. I'm 26 weeks along and will be a bridesmaid for my brother's wedding which is a little less than 3 weeks away. I was waiting 'til the last minute to find a dress as I didn't know how big I would be. All I need is a formal black dress. I would appreciate any recommendations as to where I can find some nice formal maternity wear. I would also like to wear the dress a couple months later for my husband's cousin wedding. So I want a dress that will grow with me. I started looking online but the ones I liked some places required weeks for the dress to ship which I don't have. Do places like House of Brides and David's have dresses that I can purchase of the rack and not have to order?? I really only have this weekend to really shop for a dress so any suggestions of places to shop at would be appreciated.

HI! I was in a wedding when I was 36 weeks prego!!! I bought a regular bridesmaid dress in a size 12 or something! The seamstress was able to take it in and out where it needed it!
Places like David's Bridal should definitely have something that will work. Especially since you just need formal black, you should have luck there.
I just peaked online at Davidsbridal.com and they have a link for "maternity appropriate" but none of the models look pregnant, so it's hard to tell if they have them in actual maternity cuts or just that the style could work for a pregnant belly. I'd probably give them a call and ask.
Hope this helps.

Davids Bridal should have it for you off the rack I used them when I was in weddings and a bridesmaid(pregnant) I also renewed my vows and wore a wedding dress for the renewal that I bought off the rack there too.
Good Luck!
I have a black dress. It's NOT maternity, however it is a large sized dress that may work for you. You are welcome to it if you want to come pick it up. I live in Deer Park near the mall.
My cousin had given it to me when I was pregnant to wear to a formal event. It worked ok for me. I'm guessing it's a size 16?
Just msg me.
Also, know there's a second hand store through PHD in Palatine. I donated ALL my maternity clothes there recently. So you could call them to see if they have anything in their resale shop. I gave them suits, skirts, etc. Their resale shop is located near Smith and Northwest highway in Palatine (by Eurofresh).
I hope that helps you.
Hi M.,
I'm originally from that area, live in TX now. Have you tried A Pea in the Pod or Destination Maternity? There used to be a Pea in the Pod in Deer Park and I think there's still a Destination Maternity in Streets of Woodfield, there was last spring when we were up there. Not sure if David's has maternity off the rack or not.
I was my SIL's MOH a few months after giving birth, and was still very much pregnant looking. I bought a dress from David's that was an empire waist and would have fit me even if I were 9 mos preggers. Although I can't recall if it was off-the-rack or not, I know that it DID come very quickly. I'd give Davids a call to check.
Destination Maternity has a couple long black dresses. I saw them at the old orchard store on Monday. They're too dressy for my needs but sounds like they'll work for you. Good luck!
When I was a MOH durng my last pregnancy, I had to order my dress way in advance. I wore a size 6 normally but ordered a size 14 and had it altered down to fit my 5 1/2 month preggers belly and boobs. Of course, if you're thinking of buying a non-maternity dress and altering it down, it would depend on what size you were before you were pregnant how how big you are now... I will also mention that, since you're planning on wearing a dress when you're 29 weeks and again when you're almost 35 weeks... in my previous pregnancy, I was much bigger (and my belly dropped/carried different) when I was at 30 weeks versus 35 weeks.
Here is a few links to some maternity formal dresses (searched "maternity, formal wear"). Maybe there are some that you can order for rush delivery (?):

If you can find one on Ebay, I would go that route. When pregnant with my twins, I needed two bridemaid-type dresses and found some very cheap on Ebay. One even grew with me, and I was able to wear it six days before I delivered my babies.
I had to attend a formal event when I was about 20 weeks along with my second pregnancy. I didn't like any of the maternity formal dresses that I found. I ended up buying a normal formal dress that had an empire waist and it worked just fine for me.
Good Luck.
have you tried anything like craig's list? I got a some nice maternity clothes off of there.
I bought a nice black cocktail maternity dress at Krista K boutique on Southport, you could call and see if they have anything. It was by Maternal America.
I go to formal events all the time with my husband for his job.
I have a dressy pants suit, a dress and a satin poncho. It was really hard to find something that was appropriate and I felt acceptable in.
I went to Mimi Maternity (at Old Orchard). The other option is to find a fluffy (more material) dress off the rack at Von Maur or another large department store.
Best of Luck!
