Im looking for different ideas for lunch for my daughters 1st birthday party. We are having a small gathering of family at our cabin up north for her birthday.
I need some easy to prepare (I'm limited to what I have to use at our cabin) food for lunch. Of couse staying on the cheaper side of food is ideal too. I'm looking for any and all suggestions.

What can I do next?

If you don't want to cook at all, you can order one of those large party subs from a sub shop -- they can make several diff. types w/i the party sub so everyone can have a kind they enjoy. They are not too expensive & of course, super easy -- plus just about every small town has a sub shop of somekind!

Try sloopy joe's with ground turkey. It is not as expensive as hamburger and the kids like it- throw in some chips & dip beverage of choice and you have a very inexpensive get together. hope this works for you. have fun!

ps you can fry the turkey up then put it in the crock pot to slow cook with the sauce mixture. makes for easier clean up after meal.

How about some pulled beef barbeques? Can you do some of the prep at home? I like to make these at home (put the beef in the crockpot all day, then shred when done, add to the sauce and freeze or refrigerate until needed). You can put them in a crockpot at the cabin to warm and not have to do much cooking. Get some good buns to serve them on and add coleslaw or a salad. If you need "kid food", I'd do something easy like grilling hot dogs.

N., been many years since I had anyone that age to do for.
I would think for a one year old that a jello base with cool whip, could add some bananas if desired. Pl
ain sugar cookies or else little crackers.

About me: Just turned 79. Have two great grandchildren, ages one and four. We live 1200 miles apart so I do notget to see them often.

We usually just do things like burgers and hot dogs (perfect if you have a grill), and then several varieties of salads (potato, pasta, lettuce, coleslaw), chips and baked beans. All of those items are easy to prepare or buy ahead of time, travel well, and are low maintenance.

Have fun, and happy birthday to your little one!
