Looking for Laptop

My husband and I actually just saw a laptop at Wal-Mart the other day that was only about $300 or so. The info on the display looked like it was marketing it as an inexpensive laptap for kids. Not toddlers so its "like" a laptop but for kids. Although if we were going to spend $300 I would think it would be worth it to put a few more bucks and just get something from Best Buy lol. I went out to Office Depot yesterday and saw that the price of laptops is really coming down. They had a small one by Acer that sold for under $400.00, and you could get a bigger one for not much more than $500.00. I'd really go with a new one and a warranty for a 12-year-old, because you may well cash in on the warranty. If that's too much to pay, though, have your son do chores over the course of the year, match his money, and get it for him for next Christmas.

You could look in the phone book or online for computer repair stores & call to see if they know or sell any. Also Ebay or Craig's List. However, I would be very cautious about getting a 12 year old a laptop. I've heard that kids need to use computers in family areas, especially when they are getting online & emailing because of the dangers of Internet predators. If kids have a laptop, it will end up in their rooms & places that you can't easily monitor what they are doing online. If you really want get her one, I would explain to her ahead if time that she would only be allowed to use it in the family areas of the home & see if she was sure she still wanted it.

Just a little note there are mini note books now that u can buy for 299 at target and walmart. I dnt know how much a used one would run but if u get the price compare and see which works best . Good luck!! Happy holidays!

goodwill has a store on westheimer for computers (from Spring Branch up towards Katy on the right if you are heading out towards Katy). I have no idea what they have or what you can get there. Also my mom says QVC has great prices on computers. I think it is a good investment for a 12 year old as he will use it more and more for school, but I agree $$$

Hi. You can try Craigslist. It is a wonderful site where local people just like you can buy and sell their items. Beware of 'crazy' people, but you should be able to find a really good deal.
