Looking for Information About Sea World in San Antonio

I am interested in visiting San Antonio at the end of April. I have always wanted to go and have never been. My children will be 2 and 3 when we hope to go. Are they too little? Has anyone tried the "dining with Shamu"? I see it is going to cost my 3 year old $19 for a dinner I am quite sure she will not eat at all. But I thought we would all enjoy the entertainment. Does anyone have any tips for traveling there with little ones?
Thanks!
A.

Hello, we took our daughter back in June of 2005 when she was 4 and she loved it. I saw lots of kids that were the age of your little ones and they had a blast. The water park is really neat and my daughter loved it. We did the dining with Shamu and it was great!! You get to be really up close with the whale and they get it to pose so you can get some awesome pictures. Also toward the end after everyone was done eating, the whale was splasing people too and the kids loved it! Our pics turned out really good! The food was very good and they had a whole variety of things from hot dogs, mac and cheese, beef medallions, some vegetables and a whole table of desserts! There was a little of everything for kids and adults. I totally think it was worth what we spent. I hope this helps! Have fun!

We're planning on going to Sea World in San Antonio this May/June. My son is 3, so I know he's going to love it. From previous experience with him eating, I doubt we're going to dine with Shamu. It just sounds like a lot of money for food that he probably won't eat because he'll be too excited by everything else going on. We'll probably do it when he's a little older. I'm looking forward to taking him. Hope y'all have a great time!

We went to Sea World last Easter and took our 3 year old. She had a wonderful time! She still talks about it. Remember to take a bathing suit, they now have an area that is somewhat like a water park. It came in handy because it was very warm and she loved that part almost as much as "Shamu" Hope you have a good time!!

Sea World is great! My boys are older but they still enjoyed it very much. There are several amazing shows that you can watch that might hold your little one's attention. There is a whole section of rides dedicated to the smaller ones. The water park is full. You will definitely need a stroller and I would recommend something larger than an umbrella stroller.

Dining with Shamu was wonderful but expensive. My boys were 6 and 5 and the 6 year old really enjoyed it. It is a buffet style meal with hot dogs, mac & cheese and pork & beans for the little ones. While you are eating, they bring the trainers and Shamu right up to the edge of the patio you are eating at. Shamu doesn't do any amazing tricks there just some simple ones to show how the trainers use hand signals. You can then get take pictures with Shamu if you like.

Again my 6 year old loved it. My 5 year old was overwhelmed and cried during most of the meal. He liked seeing Shamu but he wasn't capitavited by it. He also didn't each much as all and we paid for him to eat.

I think the older kids really enjoy it more than the younger kids. Have a great time when you go. We went on Spring break 2 years ago and it was great. Very cold (40 on the morning we went to the park and not one of us had pants to wear) but it warmed up nicely by the afternoon. The lines were not long at all. It is a lot of walking though.

My husband and I took our daughter to Sea World last July (just 3 weeks before her 4th bday). We did the dinner with Shamu and that was her favorite part of the trip. The dinner is so expensive for what they give you food wise, but it's such an up close experience with the whales - I would do it again. Not sure if 2 is too young or not. There were kids that age there. I think your 3 year old will have fun. They might not remember it, but it will be fun while you are there.

My daughter still talks about it. :) Oh and the night show is much better than the day shows.

Good luck!
