Hello mamas!
I am looking for infant daycare part time or full time starting next April and know there are long waiting lists. I don't know hardly ANY mom's in Chicago, so I need help! We live in the Bucktown neighborhood and would like something close to home. We visited Kindercare today and the prices are OVERWHELMING and they offer zero flexibility. Any help much appreciated

Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I am a provider an know you can call Action For Children. 1-###-###-####
and ask them to give you a list of in-home or day care centers which ever you prefer. They will help you.

Hi K.,

I can't help out much on the daycare issue. It's very tough to find a daycare center for infants in the city and they tend to be very pricey. You might look in to a home daycare, which can be much less expensive and kind of a nicer environment for an infant (in my opinion).

As for not knowing any moms in the city, I would strongly advise you to check out and join Norhtside Parents Network (www.northsideparents.org). I have met dozens of nice moms and am almost ashamed to say have actually gotten a pretty good social life together since having a kid by joining a new mom's group through NPN.

Best of luck to you!

Hi! I am a first-time mother-to-be due in March, and I just started looking for daycare myself. I saw an advertisement in the Jewell on Lincoln a few blocks from Montrose for "Andgie's Daycare," in-house childcare for 0-5 year olds on Damen Avenue between Montrose & Sunnyside. I spoke with her on the phone - she charges $150/week, including meals and snacks, and has up to 8 children, with a helper, plus her own two children. It sounds like she does a lot of activities with the kids, but it doesn't sound like she's licensed.

At least it is an option to check out! Her phone # is ###-###-####.

Good luck, and congratulations!
