We just found out that we are about 6 weeks pregnant. Now the dilemma comes in... when/how do we move our 15 month old to a toddler bed? We would like to find one, reasonably priced, that can be used as she grows to a bigger bed. I know there are parents on here that will have plenty of advice!!
Does anyone have a style, brand, or other ideas that you used and liked or disliked about them?
Of course, when do you recommend moving her? She's a climber, but has yet to try to get out of the crib, so I'm not in that much of a hurry, but we know how fast 9 months goes!!!!

What can I do next?

IKEA has some extendable beds. I dont know how much you are looking to spend but they are usually pretty reasonably priced. Here's a link to IKEA kids beds:

I hope you find something you like.

I also believe toddler beds are a waste. We just put a twin mattress on the floor after we were done with the crib. My 3 year old is now on a mattress and box spring (no frame) and my 22 month old is on a mattress on the floor.

Congrats on being pregnanyt!

Here is the crib that I got for my daughter, ok well my parents got for her, along with the rails for later.

I am not sure about a toddler bed though but this is a convertable bed. I am not sure how much you are wanting to spend, this is our first child and I am sure that the next crib that we get will be just a crib as they are kinda pricey. The reason I like this is becuase it grows with your child, but if you think of the price, a crib is around 200 a toddler bed is around 200 and you know how much bigger beds are. So this option worked for our family.
Let everyone know what you decide to do.
If you do not mind getting something used you can look on ebay and craigslist or at garage sales. ( I would just replace the mattress if it comes with one) Let me know if you have other questions, I think I have a bunch of the other ones I was looking at saved on my computer.
Good luck

Congratulations on your growing family!
We never did a toddler bed. We went with what my husband calls "the eighteen year plan" and bought a full size bed for our son. He has used it since he was 2 1/2 and now he is 5. We started by just putting the mattress on the floor so he wouldn't get hurt if he should fall out of bed. He never did fall out!
You could try transitioning your daughter to a bed in a few months so she will be used to it before your new baby comes. That will be easier on all of you! :)

I am not sure of any specific brands that grow with the child but we moved to a toddler bed when my son was only 14 months old. We found out we were pregnant and didn't want him to think he was being replaced in the crib. We just bought a standard toddler bed and that way we already had the mattress and it was alot cheaper than buying a twin size mattress or anything like that. It worked well. Congratulations and good luck!

I've never heard of a convertable toddler bed, but I think toddler beds are a waste of money and soon, of space. I would get a regular twin size bed and get an attachable railing for it. If you're not comfortable to going to that right away, just put the mattress on the floor for a while. I do think toddler beds are cute, and if money was not important I would definitely get one - but finacially, just doesn't make sense to us. My daughter is 16 months and I think well try to transition her to a big bed in a few months (we're traveling in January, so definitely after that...) Hope my ramblings help a little :) Good Luck!
