Does anyone know of any preschools that take students on a rolling schedule--I didn't apply last fall for this fall, and would like my daughter to attend some type of preschool (2 day or 3 day, a few hours a day preschool) this fall--I live downtown. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

Concordia at Seeley and Byron (close to Irving Park and Damen) is great and has a very flexible schedule. May be a little far for you but worth a look perhaps.

Try the Park District- they have a first-come, first-served enrollment. The good ones fill up immediately online, but there is the option of waiting in line at the park to sign up as well. Their schedules vary by location, and many have a few 'Fun and Games' classes in addition to preschool. The Lincoln Park neighborhood has some good programs at their parks. Parents are involved in the parents associations for their parks and it really benefits everyone. I sent my oldest through the park district for preschool and now he's in private school, and my daughter is in the same park district program for preschool.
The sessions run in 12-week segments (or something around that) so you can start off slow, and then add more 'classes' the next session.
Good Luck!

I highly recommend CBECC - Cardinal Bernindand Early Childhood Center. Catholic-based Montesorri, ages 3-6. My son went there for the past two years. If I could afford private schooling (and this one is fairly inexpensive) he would still attend. It is located on the North side but not far at all. website: www.cbecc.org

hi H.. we live in lakeview and my son goes to chalk preschool on eastman (halstead & clyborn area) and loves it! they can start at 2 years old and do not need to be potty trained. my son has been going since last october and just turned 3years old. they offer 1/2 day or full day programs (we do the full day) and also 2, 3 or 5 day options (we do the 2 day option). i am pretty sure they have a few openings available for the 3 year old class (not sure about the other age classes though). hope this helps....

Dear H.,
I live in the Andersonville area, and there is a school here called Lake Shore School. It is located at Bryn Mawr and Clark, 5600 north. There may be another campus, I'm not sure. They seem to be open all the time and act as both school and day care. You may wish to check them out. If they are not appropriate, perhaps they can give you an idea for your area. There is also a preschool program at Old St. Pat's Church near Halsted and Adams. A friend of mine teaches there. I don't remember the name of the school, but the church could tell you, I'm sure. Don't let the religious affiliation deter you. Good luck.
