My children like to play at water parks. I've found one in the southwest side of the city but dont really like the travel (especially with the gas prices!!!). Do any of you moms know where there is a free water park in the southern suburbs near Posen, Midlothian, Crestwood areas.

What can I do next?

Unfortunately, I do not beleive there is any free waterparks. However, check with your park district, they might have a splash part that is only a couple of dollars.
Good luck!

I live in NW Indiana and we have a sprinkler park here in Highland,IN at Wicker Park--it costs $1 for each session the park is "on"which I think is reasonable and in between there is a lot of playground equipment around as well as walking paths and pavilions/tables where you can eat a picnic lunch, etc. It's probably only about a half hour-40min drive for you off of Indianapolis Blvd and I94 south exit and turn right on Ridge Rd and you're there!!

Well, this would be a bit of a drive for you, but we're actually headed over to Beverly Park (Chicago, 103rd & Campbell) as soon as my son wakes up from his nap. It's not really a water park, but they do have a huge sprinkler shaped like a whale's tail in the center of a concrete pad. It's like a mini splash park. And totally free b/c it's a Chicago park district park. There is a very nice brand new playlot too. It's walking distance for us, which is nice!

There is a splash park on Willow Springs Road in Countryside called Soehrman Park. It's on Willow Springs Rd. north of 294 at Willow Springs Rd. and Hillsdale Rd. on the West side of the street. There's also a park in Westmont called Ty Warner Park. That one has a charge of $4 per child that is a non-resident. I have never been to it, but I know people who have and it's supposed to be really nice! Hope this helps.

There's a splash park in Homewood on Harwood Ave, just south of 183rd. It's only free to nonresidents, but for nonresidents it's only $4 or you can buy a 10-punch pass for $35. It is also heated, which most splash parks are not.

I know these aren't super close to you but you might want to check them out. The coolest water park for kids is in Berwyn - Freedom park! My favorite. I used to bring my kids there but, that was when Grandma lived in Berwyn. There are resident and non resident fees. Also, Ty Warner Park, in Westmont (home to the Beanie Babies!) has a resident/non resident fee but free to adults. I think it's $2/$4 non resident. Also, it's been a while but there was a nice (and used to be free small water park in Homewood. You have to check out the times that these all open because sometimes they open for 2-3 hours/close a couple hours/reopen for a few hours. Enjoy!
