Looking for Great, CLEAN Place to Have My Daughter's Ears Pierced

I have a 1 year old daughter and am thinking of getting her ears pierced in the near future. I don't really want to take her to Clare's and my Doctor does not do it in his office. I would like to find a safe, clean and nice environment for her to have this done. Does anyone know of anywhere in the Dallas area that is a good place for infant ear piercing? I live in Frisco but would be willing to take her anywhere in the Dallas area if the place is worth it.

What can I do next?

I know this is none of my business, but I've always been curious as to why anyone would pierce their baby or child's ears. I really don't mean this to sound bad, but why not let your child decide for themself if they even want pierced ears when they get older...at least when they become a teenager.

Plus, while it is a low risk, there is some risk of infection and it comes with some discomfort, all for cosmetic reasons. Just doesn't seem necessary for a baby or child...since not medically necessary. I've just never understood this "trend".

Getting your ears pierced at a Drs. office or Claire's will be the same effect. Now-a-days they fully recommend you use 14K gold first & it's pretty much the standard rule anywhere you go. Make sure who ever pierces the ears that there are two people there that can do it (call ahead). It's best to be done by two people at the same time.

I know some moms freak that some high schooler is piercing their kids ears from Claire's or Libby Lu but they have to go through training on this. They know what they are doing! I went to Claire's last year at Richardson Sq. mall to have my ears repierced & felt fully comfortable w/ the girl who had about 20 piercings herself (all over her body)!

La Lobe Piercing Salon & Claire's are my top suggestions!

I had my daughters ears pierced at Claire's about three weeks ago and it was absolutely fine. (She is 6 months old) I wanted to get them done so that I could take care of them for her, the older she gets the less responsible she will be. Not to mention like the other mom said, I remember getting mine done when I was 5 and I was scared to death. My daughter does not pull on hers, they do not bother her a bit, in fact I don't think she even knows they are there.

I would not recommend getting them done at the same time. I thought that would be the way to do it, but the lady at Claire's said there is more room for error that way. My daughter did one at a time and barely even cried, it was fine.

We had my daughter's ear's pierced when she was just 2 and a half months at JCPenny. They have a dermotologist there who is great. We went to Collin Creek Mall but I'm sure the other JCPenny's beauty salons also have the same. Its better to get it done earlier when they won't remember. Be warned, when they're older they struggle so try to do both ears at the same time. Also they will touch it since they have coordination so you'll have to watch out for infections. When they're 16 they can decide for themselves but they also learn to blame you for not having it done earlier when they wouldn't remember the pain. Its a no-win situation. Follow your heart.

I have 2 girls and I took them to libby lu there is one in the frisco mall just make sure you go on a day that is slow and only let them do one ear at a time. It will suck cause you have to hold her head down while they do it but it is worth it cause it makes your princess even more beautiful.

good luck

Laura B,
I can only answer for myself and not anyone else. I plan to get my daughters ears pierced when she is a baby because of my own experience. I really wanted to get my ears pierced but still to this day remember being terrified the whole time. Thank goodness they did both ears at the same time or I would seriously only have one done. I am very happy that I had it done and have never regretted it. However I have thought many times that I wish my mom would have taken me when I was a baby so that I didn't have such a bad memory of it.

I personally would call around until I found a pediatrician that does do it. I told my daughter she could have hers done when she graduates from elementary school (two more years) and even though she is older I will still make her go to the doctors.
