Hello, E.,
The Sierra Madre Community Nursery School was a superb experience for my daughter, Christina. They have been around for over sixty years and provide a superior model. You will be thrilled!
My very best,

Hi! I have a darling 14 month baby girl and am starting to do the Pre-school search (yes, I feel like we are already behind the ball)! There are some great LA Pre-school guides available (Whitney Guide, for example)....but they focus mostly on Westside LA schools. What about us Northeasters? We live in Eagle Rock and are looking for schools in Eagle Rock, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Echo Park, and Pasadena. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Take a look at the Pilgrim School. We've had a great experience there! It's located at 6th & Commonwealth.
I just finished the pre-school hunt. It was painful. Here are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. Eagle Rock Montessori, West Minster Child Care Center, Occidental has a pre-school but I can't remember the name, LA Family School, Hillside Cooperative Pre-school (has the option of no coop for more money), Oak Glen Nursery School, Lyric Pre-school, Baxter Montessori, Oak Knoll Kinderhaus, Pacific Oaks Childrens School, Colonial House and Celebration Kids. I left out the co-ops as you are working full time. There are lots of choices out there but don't worry, you'll find the right one for you and your daughter.
St George's Preschool in La Canada is wonderful. My son has been there 3 years and my second son will start there in the fall. It is a wonderful place! I'm happy to fill you in with more info if you need it. You can contact Cherie McSweeney at ###-###-#### x13. Good Luck.
I highly recommend Westminster Child Center at the Eagle Rock Presbyterian church on Eagle Rock Blvd. Great teachers, great play yard, lots of arts and crafts, and did I mention how great the teachers are? I wish I'd known about this school when my oldest was in preschool. When we pick up her sister, she says she wants to go back to preschool to be there! If you're uncomfortable about your daughter attending the religious part (in their second year they go to a church service once a week), then you can tell them you want to opt out of it, as a few of my friends and I have done. Good luck with your search!
