I was with Sutter Medical group for my first pregnancy. They were the ob's that suggested & eventually preformed my c-section. Sutter Memorial was a great place to be, but because they have a high rate of "high risk" pregnancies they may be more comfortable using more medical procedures like c-sections. I even hired a doula & I still ended up with a section. I vowed to never have another one so I chose homebirth midwives with my 2nd baby to make sure I had the best care.
It took most of my 2nd pregnancy to convince my husband to consider a homebirth, but I'm so glad I did. We switched care shortly before my due date. Because my 2nd baby was posterior like the 1st one, I'm sure I would have had another section if I'd been in any hospital. Instead, I had an amazing vaginal birth & then a 2nd VBAC water birth when I was 39 years old. It is totally possible & wonderful! I don't know why you had a section, but from what I've read, there's really no reason why VBAC's should be considered "high risk."
My advice is to do whatever it takes to get your VBAC. I just wasn't comfortable with my Kaiser OB's saying they would give me a "chance" to have a VBAC. I wanted someone to help me that believed in VBAC's.
My other piece of advice is to remember your body was designed to give birth & to just let it do its work. When your baby is coming, think positive thoughts of things opening wide. Any worry from you or anyone else in the room (including an o.b.) can shut the whole process down.
I have only heard of happy experiences from anyone I've met who has birthed with One Heart Midwifery ###-###-#### (even the moms who had to transfer care to a hospital were happy to have been in their care.) I've even heard of families who have moved away, coming to stay in town to birth with One Heart. At least for my midwife group, it seems to me that they have more experience with some aspects of birthing than the o.b's are trained for. They are such nurturing women, maybe they have some advice?
Best wishes for a happy birth!
