Looking for Good Mystery Authors

Hi, My mom loves to read mystery books but is having a hard time finding good authors. Most of the books she has read have had too much sex and violence in them for her taste. She loves Phyllis Whitney because a lot of her books are just old-fashioned mysteries. Has anybody found any great authors/mysteries without sex and violence? Thank you! S.

I think she should try some books from Agatha Christie (0 sex content). Also Alfred Hitchcock, both are also old fashioned mysteries but they always tend to have a "twist" at the end, which makes the reading pretty interesting.

There are some called the Coffeehouse mysteries that are really good. They are centered around a coffee house and contain a lot of information on coffee without being overwhelming. I liked them because they were quick reads and kept me guessing till the end. The author is Cleo Coyle. I know they also have some good mysteries out there in the Wine series and another series I have heard of but not yet read called The Ghost and Mrs. McClure by Alice Kimberly. You could always read some reviews on amazon.com and see what you think.

Good luck!

I used to love to read Dean Koontz's books -- but my ME time has been limited with my 16 month old so........ If she hasn't read any of his books, try him!
